Rolf Garborg invites parents to explore the life-changing impact of using biblical blessings to impart God's favor to their children. Helpful and encouraging advice guides readers as they begin the practice of speaking blessing into the lives of others, starting with the family and extending beyond it.
I love a short book that gets to the point and this was it Garborg also put the main points in the first few chapters which made my mind very happy Overall, great book where I started applying the principle in the book of blessing my daughter every night and saw a peacefulness in her attitude come from the process
In The Family Blessing, businessman and father Rolf Garborg invites parents to explore the transforming power of using those words and other biblical passages to bestow blessing on their children. He says: We must make it our ultimate goal to help our children know and love God with all their heart. How do we do that? One of the simplest and most powerful ways...is to give them a daily, concrete encounter with His power and favor by laying hands on them and speaking a blessing.
Rolf Garborg also covers--within his devotionals--what exactly is a blessing, four different types of blessings, and the benefits of blessings. He offers testimonies and stories from parents and children. In The Family Blessing Rolf Garborg brings to life:
May the Lord bless you and keep you! May the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you! May the Lord lift up His countenance on you and give you peace!
This is a beautiful gift book to give someone for a baby shower, dedication or Baptism. It is a great tool to lead parents to pray these blessing over their sons, daughters, and/or grandchildren.

This book is the reason that we started instituting a "family blessing/prayer" for our children each night. They enjoy the special prayer time with mom or dad and it opens them up to share what they are feeling/how their day was. It also forces us to not stay angry/frustrated at them when it's been a long/hard day with them and make our relationship right through blessing and prayer.
My husband and I read this when when our first child was just a baby. Soon afterwords we put the nightly blessing into practice and all our children grew up with it, even asking for it when we chanced to forget.
