This was as delightful as when I read it 45 years ago, a selection of the wonderful Puffin Club which send a steady stream of books to me in my classroom all through grade (elementary) school.

Utterly of its time, recognizing the sexism and bullying that was commonplace, and showing the characters shrugging these off and moving on.

Composed primarily of kick by kick football (soccer) commentary, it's no surprise that I read and reread this series and a kid, and that I still recall so many story beats (really action highlights) all these years later.

Fun enough revisiting this, but not enough story going on for me. Loved the Harpur special schemes though.
