Strange & Prophetic Dreams of the Indian People. This is a touching story of a great grandmother instilling the Indian spirit in her great grandson. It gives guidelines for a glorious 'We have had enough now of talk. Let there be deeds.'
This is a Christian appropriation and reinterpretation of native myth. It mixes in some interpretations of prophecy and attempts to create a new religious experience with everyone falling in line behind Jesus. It declares that a new, better type of white man will help lead indigenous communities out of their injured state.
This is one of those instances where my review score is not based on writing quality, but rather on the quality of narrative.
After reading another book about shamans, I decided to re-read this book I had not opened for nearly 60 years. The first time I read this I was 17. It was recommended by my Advanced Biology teacher and at the time it resonated intensely. This time not so much. I guess the decades have made me a lot more cynical.
An amazing book, including a wide variety of indigenous visions & myths, all relating to the coming together of the human race, the return of the Christ spirit that inhabited Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, and many more.
This was a very quick read, and definitely something I will be quoting from in the future. I also didn't even notice it had fold-out artwork until after I had started reading the book, BONUS!
