Jaden is in a bind: he's an eighteen-year-old college student who doesn't make enough money at his part-time job to even afford food. So when one of his house mates introduces him to gay-for-pay porn, he reluctantly agrees to take part. During his first scene, Jaden meets Brendan, and he's stunned to find himself falling in love.
Andy Eisenberg, a lifelong avid reader, writes as an escape from her career as a microbiologist. She has more interests than time, enjoying everything from building furniture to needlework. A cancer survivor, she has spent the time since her recovery in more quiet pursuits and has concentrated on writing--one of those things that she always wanted to do but put off until there was more time.
Her husband, her own personal happy-ever-after, provides the background music to her writing in the form of his PS3 and XBox360. Andy and her husband are both transplanted Yankees who now make their home in Virginia at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. They live with two large dogs, three cats, and assorted fish and houseplants and enjoy watching baseball and football together.
There was a lot to like about this story. The build up to the revelation that the relationship Jay wanted was the one he was in with his porn star boyfriend Brendan, not Nickie, his girlfriend. The connection felt solid and the sex scenes were pretty hot. It starts off gay-for-you but ends up being more like gay-but-I-prefer-you.
I was very impressed until the end. The author seemed to go to a lot of trouble to bring the boys together and help us overlook the young age (18 and 22?) of the boys and the porn start/continuation of their relationship. She builds some tension with the introduction of Alex and the idea of working in the industry with others besides just the two of them. They look like they have plenty to work through and still keep us entertained.
At the end I thought the book....fell apart. The porn job is revealed thru backhanded means to the parents and now must be dealt with. Here the parents go from wonderful and understanding to illogical and mean issuing ultimatums that would practically guarantee the behavior they don't like must continue. The girlfriend goes from thoughtless and petty to understanding, a jealous fan/stalker makes an appearance and the nice level headed boyfriend makes bewildering choices in the guise of doing what is right for his “too young” boyfriend. Really, it isn’t terrible but most of the ending is all clichés that a little more creativity could have avoided thus creating a much stronger book.
In the last pages we skip three years and find that all is forgiven in a matter of minutes and a couple of kisses.
It’s not a bad story. The patience the book had in the beginning would have been better served had it been applied to the end as well.

This is an appealing sweet romance that is mostly light on angst until the end. Unfortunately the ending has only a very vague happy for now that may not satisfy most readers in addition to a horrible choice for a wrapup. The lack of strong ending is also surprising, given the highly romantic tones of the book. Readers may not be bothered by this due to the strong romance of the story but this is disappointing and leaves an otherwise good story feeling like a let down. Other than this problem and a few technical errors, this novella is a strong first showing from a new author if you can ignore the poor ending.
Jaden is a new college student, living away from home and struggling to make ends meet. When his part time job at Starbucks fails to provide him enough to eat, the literally starving student hesitantly agrees to check out a gay-for-pay porn site. Deciding that doing a few scenes and being able to eat is more important; Jaden gives the site a try. His first man on man scene is with experienced Brendan and emotions emerge that neither man is expecting. Both Brendon and Jaden decide to follow their hearts despite Jaden’s previous straight status. However the threat of exposure hangs over their heads and when a jealous admirer tries to destroy Jaden’s new life, unexpected consequences follow.
The story is told in third person point of view from Jaden’s perspective. There are a few slip ups when Brendon’s POV is thrown in erroneously but other than those few times, Jaden’s perspective is the only one shown. The plot is very romantic and focuses mostly on Jaden and Brendon’s developing relationship as they realize their feelings for each other go deeper than an on camera fling. The slow progress of their relationship is sweet and shows how Jaden goes from a happy heterosexual to discovering his attraction and intense passion for another man. Jaden doesn’t immediately identify as gay and re-iterates at numerous points that he enjoyed sex with his ex-girlfriend, but eventually Jaden comes to the realization that he is gay and happiest with Brendon. This process of discovery is easy and there is very little angst or drama involved from any angle for the most part.
There is also a lot of sex thrown in but only between Brendon and Jaden. Once Jaden accepts his desire for the other man, the two enjoy a healthy and active sex life. Mostly on camera for the porn site but fans of explicit erotica are sure to be satisfied by the amount of scenes included. The scenes also have a heavily romantic tone, even sometimes alluding to the fact that women are fans of gay porn. There are several references to this within the story and other than this now being an annoying inclusion, it wasn’t too overwhelming. Jaden throws himself into the sex as if he’s been doing it all his life with very little internal angst or soul searching.
This ease kept the characters somewhat two dimensional but not so much as to throw the story off. Other than Jaden’s love and desire for Brendon, there is little know about the other man. Brendon is a great support for Jaden and helps the other man come to terms with his sexuality in a gradual way. Brendon also helps Jaden realize the importance of family – almost too much. This flaw plays into the problems with the ending. Although Jaden’s family is fine with his sexuality, once the porn angle is introduced they completely change their minds. This abrupt change is not supported well and injects the main conflict in the story. This even leads up to the breakup between Jaden and Brendon, which again plays out off scene and the reader has no real idea why the men chose the avenue they did or how it was handled. One moment Jaden is upset and crying and the next it’s three years later, so much has happened, and there is a vague happy ending. This leap in time – all off page – is incredibly disappointing and ends the story on a very sour note.
Another problem with the ending is that the catalyst for all of this conflict, a jealous admirer, doesn’t make very much sense nor does the final solution – again off page – make much sense regarding this sub plot. It’s as if the book got to a certain point and realized there had to be overwhelming conflict and threw it in at the last moment. Yet the resolution and conflict this creates between Brendon and Jaden is all off page. This again weakens what is otherwise a decent, romantic story. The writing is pretty good with very few obvious mistakes and the flow is quick. The story doesn’t lag and speeds along so the novella is an easy, fun read.
Although the ending ruined the book for me and left me disgruntled, others may not be as bothered. For a nice easy first offering from a new author, check this out.
A WTF worthy ending if I've ever seen one. Horrendous! I wouldn't be so upset if I didn't enjoy most of the rest of the story so much. What a way to kill a book! Don't read the last chapter, just skip it. Any HEA or HFN or whatever type of ending you can come up with in your head will be a gazillion times better than what you'll get here.
This is a pretty cute story and the overall tone is sweet and romantic. I liked Jaden's character. He's a typical starving college student and his shock at hearing the suggestion he do porn for pay is handled perfectly. I could almost see his jaw dropping in horror...until he views the sex video the second time, when his attitude changes. He's intrigued.
Getting Jaden through his first sex scene was funny and hot at the same time and Brendon was great with him. Their personal relationship really started over the phone and it was nice that Brendon gave Jaden plenty of time to make up his mind about what he wanted. I really liked this...watching them get close before they declare their feelings. And the sex scenes following...very hot.
Jaden's parent's took the change in his sexual orientation much better than I thought, but I didn't expect their porn reaction to be so over the top. This is the part of the story that becomes disappointing. Everything happens quickly, suddenly Jaden is crying after a huge argument with his parents and then it's three years later. I couldn't believe it. What the hell happened to the important intervening years. I wanted to know and it left me feeling very disappointed.
I was really enjoying this story up until the point where I will read the next book to see what happens but I am hoping for a more satisfactory ending this time!
Ya know? I liked these characters. Jaden was sweetly innocent; Brendan, a gentle "teacher", and my romantic heart willingly bought into their flourishing romance even though it developed in the scandalous realm of gay porn. It was a solid 4 stars until the end. WTF happened? The whole story totally went off the rails with so little explanation of events that I am totally baffled... and I hate that feeling!
Even though i saw all the reviews hating the book because of the last chapter, i just couldn't agree. I was into Jaden and Brendan from the get go and even though i hated how horrible things happened to them at the end, i still loved the book. I almost didnt read the last chapter but im glad i did.
I loved this book...right until the end. The ending was so abrupt after everything that had happened in the story. All the loose ends were tied up off page. I would of rated this much higher if there was just a few more chapters to flesh out the ending.
Another story about MC's performing in porn then falling in love. It was pretty good, until the end. Go figure. The ending was a huge disappoint for me. However,
I was enjoying this book until the end. This was such a fast passed book and then things happen and boom, 3 yrs pass before they are together again. I hate books like this. Already telling each other “love you” after like 2 weeks of talking on the phone and then when something happens ✌🏼 out. Plus he continued to work in the same industry he almost lost his family for?

This story reads like Corbin Fisher fan fic. Since I like amateur ghey pron and I like Corbin Fisher that's not a bad thing in my book. Jaden is a starving college student (literally) who does some gay-for-pay porn to make ends meet and in the process discovers he is gay (pay or not) and finds the love of his life.
I really liked the premise of this book. Many times I watched my favorite CF vid and wished I had the talent to write a story to go with it. Glad to see someone actually executed the idea. The characters are likable and engaging. I really enjoyed reading about what these guys lives might be like and what might be on their minds while they work. All in all, I really fell for Jaden and Brendan and their beautiful journey into love.
Spoilers ahead...
Unfortunately, there are a couple of things about the book that pulled me out of the story and I had to work hard to get "back in". First, there were a couple of times where the character's action's just didn't seem likely. One example is the time that Brendan told Jaden that they had to save their first time for the camera. Yeah, right. Because we all know that when an amateur porn website posts a video of a model's first time bottoming, it's really, truly their first time. Gods, I sure hope not!
Another example is the ending. Perhaps it is the rebel in me, but no way that I would ever go back to my parent's home if they talked to me the way they talked to Jaden, unless there were some serious apologies going on. ...and no way that a man is going to take the "high road" and step away so his boyfriend can have a relationship with his parents. The parents that kicked him out and refused to pay tuition. BS. It would take years to undo the kind of damage that Jayden's parents inflicted in one day. Bottom line, I hated the ending.
The writing style was good but not great, a little clunky in places, but generally unobtrusive. Plot issues aside, this is an author with potential whose writing still lacks a little finesse. I suspect this story was fanfic and was tweaked for publication. Who knows? (The author knows, of course! It has been clarified in the comments below that this story was never fanfic. So I was way off base there.)
After all the ranting you might think I wouldn't recommend the book. However, fact is I enjoyed reading the story quite a bit and will probably read it again minus the ending. Fans of CF, college boy stories and stories set in the porn industry in general will most likely enjoy this book. While I did not like the ending, most people may like it, even love it. After all, it is a HEA. So, go ahead and check it out and let me know what you think.
Interesting premise - going gay for pay, whether or not that's exploitative of young college students, keeping it a secret from one's friends and family - but the premise can only get you so far. Jaden's too quick to accept doing gay porn, and he falls for Brendan with very little sexual identity-crisis soul-searching. Several big emotional things happen off-screen and are told through awkward flashbacks, when they should be foregrounded so that we can experience the characters' struggles in decision-making. The biggest offender, though, is
And, not that I mind works that were originally fan fiction - or fan fiction itself after somebody made me read that Merlin thing that I loved - but it makes me feel a little uncomfortable when names and revealing details aren't changed at all. At least it's much less obnoxious here than in a certain series about ranchers that everyone else seems ga-ga for...
I bought this book with some trepidation. I wasn't sure if I wanted to read a book with main characters who work in porn, but I decided to give it a try. I was afraid that the two main characters would be shown in scene after scene having sex with other people, and while I've read my share of menage/group sex stories, I just didn't want that for Jaden. Thankfully, Eisenberg handled that particular situation very well. Both Jaden and Brendan are sweet characters. I would have given this book four stars except the HEA seemed a bit iffy for me, and there was a situation with another character that just didn't seem to fit.
I honestly spent the entire book thinking, "Brendan and Jaden, you're so young! This (porn) could ruin your life!" Of course, Jaden's parents said the same thing. Of course, I also thought, "Darn, Eyre, you're such a hypocrite! You love looking at pictures of nekkid boys."
Oh, well, as I said to my buddy Kris not to long ago when discussing the demise of a certain porn couple's (the Jarics) relationship, "I want to believe in true porn star love."
It seems like an old jilted lover got hold of this book and added the last chapter for revenge, cause honestly how could the writer have thought it could ever work in million years. NO. I was loving the book and it completely destroyed it. Three years is a long long time. If you have stil feelings for the other person, you're incredibly hurt and resentful, (caus I think this martyrdom thing is the most selfish thing a person does in a relationship. If you really care for the other person, pray care for their opinion too) anyway, even if he was going to be forgiving, it was going to take sometime, A simple 'hello, texas' would never ever ever have worked. but amazingly it did, and within a minute he was ready to go to bed with him, what crap. It wouldn't even have worked had it been 3 weeks instead of three years. Completely destroyed the book. It would have needed another book to resolve it if the writer wanted to take this angel.
reviewers are right: DON'T READ THE LAST CHAPTER. MAKE YOUR OWN HAPPY ENDING. I AM SURE WE ALL HAVE READ ENOUGH TO DO IT.
I found this book through a bizarre series of clicks while surfing one day. I have a son who is gay and he is always looking for more books to improve his English. I bought it for him for his birthday, but when it arrived, I found myself unable to put it down. I had only wished to read a few pages to see what the book would be like, get an idea of the author's style, etc. I will admit that I don't understand the American perception of sex and shame, but Ms. Eisenberg writes very well and has a skill in writing emotional scenes. Definitely worth reading. (This book has also led me to buying other books in this genre also)
I really enjoyed this book right up to the last chapter - which I HATED with a passion that totally eclipses the anything that I got from the rest of the book. What, did the author run out of time? We get 200 pages of a lovely developing relationship and then wham, the main character is disowned by his parents, runs to find shelter with his lover, and then on the next page it's THREE YEARS LATER and they apparently slowly broke up, the hero continued to do porn with other men, and now they are magically going to get back together again? WTF?
I would have given it four stars, but I almost threw my computer at the wall when I got to the end of this one so it gets two.

Wow, I didn't expect that. I really love it. I really like the interaction between Jaden and Brendan. They were sweet and I enjoyed 'seeing' them fall in love. Even the fact that this book had a lot of sex didn't bother me (hey, they work for a GFPsite, sex's expected))
I agree with the other reviewers, the ending's poor, let me with the impression that the writer didn't know how to finish the book.
This book was slow to start and lacked magic. Not terrible though, with some sweet parts in the middle. However, the ending ruined the entire book for me. It felt like the author was just tired of writing the book! The the whole thing just fell and the author tried to glue it back together in 2 pages with a nonsensical WTF HEA ending. Stupid and really destroyed the characters and book as a whole.
This book starts off very promising, then hits a wrong bend three-quarters in and never looks up. There's a delicious slow build-up in the beginning that makes one wonder what the author was thinking with the slapped-on subplot and rushed ending. A real pity; it'd have been a thoroughly enjoyable story otherwise.
I really liked this story. I have to agree with some of the others that the ending was kind of rushed and left me feeling cheated. Except for the end sucking, the rest of the book was really good. I'm going to read the next in the series. Unexpected Guest
The writing could have been more polished, but this was a solid 4-star read until the last third of the story. I liked the characters and was rooting for them, until the plot dissolved into a series of WTF? moments followed by an awkward information dump and the most sudden, unbelievable HEA I've ever read.
This was a lovely, smexy, relatively angst free read that was sadly let down by the ending ... I really don't understand why, when everything else hung together so very well, the final couple of chapters happened ... It was just too WTFery to ignore ... My only other major gripe is that I often got lost in the sex scenes as to who was doing what to whom ...
I really enjoyed reading this book and would have rated it much higher but the end was really rushed. You have around 190 pages of a really good story and then all of a sudden you jump three years ahead and the book ends in 3 pages!

I'm not a fan of college settings and I'm not a fan of porn so why I read this book I don't know. I'm trying hard to write something positive because it wasn't that bad, not really, but now I just can't seem to find the thing to write.
I liked the first 98% of the book and would have given it3 stars, but the ending was abrupt and awful. it felt like the author just decided it needed to end so he wrote a few quick paragraphs to close it without thought.
I really liked the first 2/3 of this book -- but cannot recommend it at all because it totally falls apart in the end. See Kassa's and Jen McJ's reviews: I agree entirely. So disappointing.
