I received a gifted copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via the publishers JKPBOOKS. . What's Happening to Ellie? is a very informative and child friendly book for young girls and women with autism or other autism related conditions, and teaches them that growing up won't happen overnight and changes to their body will happen slowly. The book gives reassuring advice as to what will happen to them as they change from being a girl to a woman and shows illustrations of said changes. The book is calming and reassuring, which is very important for anyone with autism. And let's face it, we would all panic I'd we didn't know what to expect, and then we find hairs or blood in our underwear. The book reassures the reader and encourages them to talk to a trusted adult about anything they're unsure about or worried about. I'm so glad a book like this exists in the world today for those who need it. Its also great for parents/carers as it helps guide them too on how to approach the subjects covered in the book with their child/young lady.
