Sarah Jane is acting very suspiciously. Of course, in Sarah Jane's life, things are not always as they seem and some very special wedding guests ensure this is one day she will never forget!

This was always my favourite Sarah Jane Adventures episode. I always loved the Trickster episodes and younger me was so absolutely in heaven when this episode was announced - the Trickster in the Sarah Jane Adventures with the Doctor, finally.
And I love the novelisation. I love how it gives more understanding to Clyde and Rani as the TV episode didn't go into their resistance as clearly as the book does, and I loved how they added the Brigadier into the book and mentioned Sarah Jane's old UNIT friends. I thought it was really cool.
The novelisation of The Wedding Of Sarah Jane Smith works in a very similar way to all the previous SJA novels. There is no real original content added, and is simply just a case of ‘from script to prose’, however much like some of the better novelisations in this range; there are small distinct changes and additions to give the reader something a little different. Primarily that is the inclusion of internal monologues from all the different characters, something carried out through facial expressions or body language on TV, but here it is very clear accounts of what each character thinks and feels. It is always fun reading the descriptions of previous Doctors in Sarah Jane’s mind. The other alteration I noticed was something I hadn’t seen in any of the previous SJA books, line alterations. Changing a few words in the occasional bit of dialogue to give it an enhanced sense of comedy of drama, and in one case giving Clyde a whole sequences with K9 where he recounts his previous adventures with the Doctor and Clyde is amazed. There’s even a lovely scene with the brigadier, which for obvious reasons couldn’t be done on the show. Gareth Roberts has always done excellently when it comes to references and cameos and even just describing where all the members of the UNIT family are, felt so lovely. My only criticism really is the pacing, which is no surprise when this book is almost 20 pages shorter than the rest of SJA novelisations range. There are no real pauses to allow the audience to take in all the drama (unless you count literally stopping reading the book) and a fair scenes are reduced in length to meet the page count. This is more obvious in the ending, where we get about 5 pages to see Sarah Jane get over the events of the story and for the Doctor to show up. It’s easily one of the best scenes in the episode, but here it’s over almost as soon as it begins. The only thing really stopping this book being a perfect novelisation is the length, and I cannot imagine how many small little moments or references we missed out on thanks to a very liminal page count.
Definitely a book for kids, this novelization of a two-part episode for the kids' spinoff to Doctor Who reads very quickly. The Doctor's not really in it that much, but this is as close to a Target novel of a modern Doctor's adventures as we're going to get. Decent additions from the TV episode for old-time fans too.
I partly read this novelised version of the series three episode for my creative writing course and for enjoyment. I loved rereading this novel, and the characters came to life spectacularly. We learn things we don't know in the episode, and I loved every second I read it.
An easy, fun read. Fans of Sarah Jane Smith and Doctor Who will enjoy seeing two of their favorite characters save the world once again, with the help of Sarah Jane's young friends.
