A renowned text, THEORIES OF ADOLESCENCE provides students with a concise, well written, illustrated and readable description of the essence of major theoretical positions (both historical and contemporary) about adolescence and about the phenomena of adolescence and development in general. This one-of-a-kind text focuses solely on the theories of adolescence, giving thorough coverage to all the major theories through 14 topic areas.
So I only read ch. 1, 2, 3 and 6, but I feel like I can positively say that this book gives a good overview of the important theories up until its publication relating to Adolescence. If it's heavy on the psych side of things and includes a little more emphasis on the possibilities of a pathological experience of adolescence than I like, I'm willing to believe that that's as much about what's out there as about Muuss's own ideas. Definitely useful, and easy to understand though I got really bored more than once.
