After saving Mei Lynn and some of her expedition from certain death, Aidan follows them back to Sacred Flame Academy. Back to civilization. And a choice needs to be made. One that might unwittingly be the difference between the survival of humanity, or its death.
But things aren't what they seem at Sacred Flame. The more Aidan learns, the more he suspects something isn’t right. And his appearance has set events in motion that he never intended.
Many believe a path is a personal choice. But not every path can be chosen.
Great read and imo this a series that has the potential to compete with Cradle, but who starts a book with a prologue that doesn't even happen until after the events of the book? Aka an epilogue...that was a ??? choice. If you're going start with a flashforward to some surprising event, and then flashback like what happens in TV shows, at least actually resolve the flashforward in the book :/
A very enjoyable, downright awesome series… I thoroughly enjoyed the progression of both characters! The powers and cultivation aspects are sound and very appealing. I love Aiden and how he conquers his many doubts with power leveling and selfless yet destructive actions. Mei has certainly grown own me… also this cliffhanger… please make books faster!! I’m a believer in this series!
Great premise. The story so far is going some place, which should be a standard, but too many stories stall out. Plenty of stakes to keep me turning pages. I really enjoyed the dual MC perspectives. Both characters felt very different and felt real.
Hands down, one of the best character driven stories in the genre. It was fresh in many ways.
Great continuation of book 1. There was more Mei in this book which is fine but I prefer Aiden's pov. My only complaint are that the books are too short. I knocked this out in a few hours. It was great though. Can't wait for book 3.
