I enjoyed this a lot. 3.5 stars really, very nearly 4.
I love stories where two lovers with a history come back together; and this was a good one. I really enjoyed the suspense and I felt that this was a solid story with a well developed plot and cast of characters. I find that a lot of erotic suspense-romance tends to be a little lite on plot outside of the romance element and so this was a nice little surprise.
I also really enjoyed reading about an individual who is into BDSM but without going the whole hog. I have read a lot of BDSM erotic fiction recently and they have all been about characters who are far more into going to clubs, being called Master or Sir, lots of pleasure/pain and what have you, and so it was really interesting to read about a character who combines it with more vanilla appetites.
Just a couple of reservations stop me from rating this 4 stars. I felt the big conversation where they clear the air fell a bit flat. They both seemed to get over their anger and heartbreak rather suddenly and inexplicably. Zane was supposedly so angry that he has plotted revenge since the day Jamie left, and Jamie spent 12 years telling her best friend about this guy that she never got over. They started off very hostile towards each other but then that just fizzled out. I think that overall Jamie's reasons for leaving in the way that she did all those years ago were also a little cloudy.
Plus, it was made clear that Zane was a well known Tomcat which was one of Jamie's reasons for not taking their relationship seriously way back when, but suddenly this didn't seem an issue. At one point Jamie doubted his feelings but then he reassured and that was the end of that. It just seemed an unsatisfactory resolution of that thread to me.
Anyway, after having said all that, I DID really enjoy this and you can NEVER get enough of a hot Sheriff in uniform and on fire with passion in my opinion!

Wow... that was some steamy sex! And a lot of it, too. I'm kinda surprised I liked this as much as I did, because I usually find these books too predictable for much enjoyment when I'm not PMSing. So I still have my usual complaints about this type of book: the 'convince yourself not to be with the person you love' attitude of the h; the obvious villain (though I'm not so sure it was supposed to be a mystery, but more of a tension builder); the TSTL moment where h almost dies because she didn't listen to the H's alpha-command... the usual. But even though this book had most of the things that annoy the shit out of me, I still closed the book feeling like I enjoyed it. The pacing felt pretty good. I wasn't skimming paragraphs to get to something better, though I did sort of zone out through a few of the cunnilingus paragraphs because there were just so damn many. But the sex scenes were damn good. I'd make babies with Zane, even though his hair is prettier than mine.

First off, this is a long one. Not terribly long, but a full length novel... so odd in erotica today, yes?
No one says BDSM, there are no clubs or exhibitionism, the word Dom is never spoken, but the dude does like to tie her up, spank her, use toys, blindfolds, command her... he speaks of getting her a flogger. That kind of thing- so you've been warned.
And yes, there is anal. Plenty of anal to bother those who don't like it. so skip it if you need to...
The sex is very hot and exteamly plentiful. Maybe even too plentiful.
But I was probably just far more interested in the mystery and what they were thinking about staying/going to need all the copious sex..
Anyhooo.. I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a well crafted suspense novel with fun side characters and interesting twists to the plot. Jamie started out way too freaking whiney but thank goodness she evolves so I could believe Zane would actually want to stay with her. I think we can credit her best girl friend for that change.

This is really a 3.5.
If you have read any Desiree Holt before you know her stuff is pretty smexalicious. She knows how to write a hawt sex scene. I was not disappointed.
This is a second chance type of story with some bad guys thrown to make the plot more interesting. Zane (the town bad boy) and Jamie dated while she was in High School. She left town (and Zane) when she caught him with another girl. Fast forward 10 years, or so, and Jamie is back trying to recover from a bad career move. Zane (now the sheriff) is pissed she's back and can't wait for her to leave. Enter the bad guys trying to run her out of town because she's in the way of their activities. Zane steps in to help her out and rekindle their lust/romance.
This was a 3.5 for me because, while I liked Zane being alpha in the bedroom, he didn't seem so alpha as sheriff. Too much got by him that he should have caught.

THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST EROTICA BOOKS I HAVE EVER READ. WHY? BECAUSE IT HAD A GOOD STORYLINE PLUS HOT-STEAMY LOVE SCENES, DID I SAY HOT, I MEAN H.O.T. HOTTTTTTT!! IF YOU HAVE LITTLE EXPERIENCE IN THE ART OF MAKING LOVE THIS WOULD MAKE A GREAT HOW TO BOOK. VERY DESCRIPTIVE. . .WOW! DESIREE HOLT IS THE MOST DESCRIPTIVE EROTICA AUTHOR I'VE EVER READ. SHE REALLY EXPLAINS THINGS WELL, ALONG WITH A GREAT PLOT. SOME OR MOST EROTICA IS JUST SEX, SEX AND MORE SEX FOR NO PERTICULAR REASON, NOT THIS BOOK, U-UH! I REALLY ENJOYED THIS, ITS A FULL NOVEL IT KEPT ME READING STRAIGHT TO THE END. THE CHARACTERS WERE VERY GOOD AND THE FUNNY DIALOG, HAD ME CRACKING UP. THE INTER ACTION BETWEEN THE MAIN CHARACTERS WERE SO BELIEVABLE, ESPECIALLY ZANE & JAMIE THEY BELONG TOGETHER, A PERFECT MATCH. WOW!WOW!WOWEEE! A REAL EYE OPENER.

Always, Desiree Holt is one great story-teller. This is a full-length novel and therefore she was able to explore the plot and storyline as well as develop characters to a greater degree. It is about second chances and about redeeming choices in life that don't always go the direction originally planned. The characters here have to experience forgiveness and renewal before they find a new direction--together.

I don't know, this book was well enough written, the writing style was good, and the plot was interesting enough. But, I just didn't like the book very much. One thing was that I didn't really feel that the relationship between the two main characters was consistent and that the progression of their relationship made all that much sense. I can't really explain it, just didn't really like it.

Despite the cheesey title this was a good story. Jamie and Zane have a history dating back 12 years. Then she ran away from their small town to make a name for herself as a journalist. She was well on her way to doing so when she was set up and her career and her name destroyed. She limps back to her home town to claim her father's house, since he died in an accident. But when she sees his truck she suspects it wasn't an accident. Zane is now the local sheriff who investigated the accident. He doesn't buy her theories and originally wants her to leave town again until he seduces her into bed and then it's a whole different story. The sex is sizzling. Plus their is mystery of her father's death and did I mention that some people want her to disappear - permanently? Definitely a read again book.

If you're looking for a steamy, sizzling read...then this is the Book for you...Zane & Jamie's story is beautiful...full of tension...drama...the characters interact beautifully & I gotta say the sex scenes were out of this world...Hooeee!!! I highly recommend this anyone who is looking for a great romance with some sensational sex & love making thrown in...If you enjoy your sex with a bit of an edge this is definitely a Must Read!!!

This was a good book about a woman returning back to her hometown after being disgraced and reconnecting with her "true love" from years before. The suspense and twist added to the book made it more enjoyable.
