William Still's life has always been linked with Aberdeen. Born, brought up and educated in "the granite city" he has also devoted 45 years to the city centre pastorate of Gilcomston South Church. His ministry has reached out across the nation and the world inspired by a single-minded commitment to the gospel. He is a spokesman and example for those who believe that a faithful and firm stance on the essentials of the faith results in lifestyle changes in individuals who have been influenced by his ministry and witness to the truth of scripture.
William Still was minister of the Gilcomston South Church of Scotland in Aberdeen from 1945 until 1997. His ministry had a strong emphasis on Biblically based expository preaching.
I was honestly a tad disappointed in this autobiographical account of William Still’s early life, and ministry in Aberdeen Scotland. I really enjoyed his books on pastoral ministry and spiritual growth, and expected to enjoy this more. While there are some interesting anecdotes and helpful insights here and there, the book as a whole was far too parochial to really hold my interest.
