Blood and Illusion: Paranormal Romance--With a Steampunk Edge Coven Enforcers Book 3
by Ann Gimpel
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ann Gimpel never disappoints! Blood and Illusion is completely phenomenal! I absolutely love this Paranormal sexy witchy series from Ann , and I know if you read books 1 & 2 you are counting the days to the release date of for Blood and Illusion: Paranormal Romance--With a Steampunk Edge Coven Enforcers Book 3, the next installment in the series! All of three of these storyline are awesome, and they are well written and the plot to each of these books are full of twists and turns. There are well developed characters that capture your interest from the beginning of each of these stories. The emotional and sexual angst leaps from the pages and keeps you reading long after you should have gone to bed! This book will have you hooked from the first word to the very last end. You will find yourself cheering for them one moment and wanting to smack them along the back of the head the next. I would like to see all of the enforcers get their HEA! If you read just one of Ann Gimpel books you will see what a talented Writer she is!. From her shifter books to her Scifi series each one is amazing!. Her Characters are super sexy and her Storylines are incredible.

I'd recommend this series to anyone who likes a strong and likable heroine, an irresistible alpha male and a story full of twists, turns, romance and love. I can't hardly wait to read the next book! This is a SPECTACULAR Read! This story will make you smile and give you lots of romance. If you love witches, mages and demons then this romance is definitely a fabulous choice for your TBR list. I am hoping there will be a lot more exciting stories. I highly recommend this book!

If you believe in the world of Paranormal romance the possibilities are endless and fascinating.

The Coven Enforcers series has been added to my "I love them" list. The author's characters are very realistic and you'll fall in love them immediately. They have real emotions, are likeable, and are written in such a way that no matter their genre (paranormal, steampunk, historical), the reader will connect with them.

Isla is a sassy character. She's strong-willed and can hold her own. Sam is another strong alpha male that isn't overbearing or controlling, just like Luke and Joshua from the first 2 books in the series. He's a protector to the witches even though they aren't official part of the Coven. I've enjoyed learning more about Sam through the other two book of this trilogy and am glad he warranted his own story.

Blood and Illusion is packed full of action, magic, and romance. The plot is strong and unique and the story is fast paced. The characters have depth and layers not just 2 dimensional robots that move through the pages. The characters are very well developed and the world building is complex. The story of Isla and Sam rounds out the trilogy nicely. Another great novel by the very talented author, Ann Gimpel.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobooks of this series.

The enforcers are called to the aid of a coven of witches, in San Francisco, but those that are attacking are not what they seem.
The group decide to join up with the other coven, and do a cross country trek, hounded by evil all the way.
Due to inner turmoil, one witch is loathe to reconnect with the coven that had treated her dastardly years before. The solution also brings another that had been hiding in plain sight, but when things go awry, the illusion is abandoned and those that need to know are shocked at who are two of their companions.

I listened to the audio version of this book as part of a boxset and greatly enjoyed it. Sam has his hands full when he and several other enforcers rescue a group of witches in San Francisco that Harriet had ties with. The women are not coven witches so they do not have to obey the enforcers, this makes things interesting when demon attacks occur as they head for Utah. I was glad to have Sam finally find his match and his mate in the fiesty Isla. Enjoy.

Fast-paced read,  that kept me guessing,  and ended wanting more.
Everything was  relevant to the story,  perfect cohesively, with no weak points.
I've loved the characters. They are easy to like, connect and understand.
This was magical and action-packed.
Full of plot twists and surprises.
Ann Gimpel is a magician of paranormal, so creative. The new magic is really great!
This is the best of the three, and there is nothing better than a series that keeps evolving into the climax!!!
Wow, what an ending!
Aethelred, yeah, I won't say anything, just the name so you no I was shocked! :)
I wanted to say, that I could read more! There are still so many people that I would love to explore more.

I have long been a fan of books that cross genres and of those that put a new spin on history. The Coven Enforcer Series by Ann Gimpel does a fantastic job of feeding those two hungers of mine, and then some. The series has been well-crafted so that magic doesn’t seem like an add-on, as it can be in books that attempt to weave magic into history. The series is set in the United States in the mid-1800s and Ann Gimple has obviously studied American History because she includes facts about what is going on at that time and what life was like in the western part of the country. Aside from the attention to detail regarding history, which some authors writing historical fiction don’t bother with, Ms. Gimpel has gifted her readers with excellent storytelling. The characters in this story are very believable in their flawed humanness (even if most of them aren’t exactly what you’d call “human”), even if some of the situations require some major suspension of disbelief on the part of the reader. I simply strapped in and enjoyed the ride.

Blood and Sorcery, the conclusion of the series, finds our intrepid band of Coven Enforcers riding to the rescue of a group of witches who have ties to Abigail’s grandmother, Hester. There is no love lost between this bedraggled group of women and the Coven, as one of their own has been exiled from the Coven for doing what she believed to be right many years earlier. As a result, the relationship between the hero and heroine of this book, Sam and Isla, is volatile at best, at least in the beginning. However, because these books are definitely Happily Ever Afters, Sam and Isla eventually settle into a rhythm that works for them both.
The entire series is fast-paced and exciting, with a lot of fight scenes between good and evil. Even some gods appear to enjoy the show! There are numerous, explicit sex scenes so the series as a whole should be reserved for readers 18+ who enjoy blended genres as much as I do. The only complaint that I had about the series, really, was trying to read the Scottish accent. I appreciate that it had a definite part in the story, but it got a little tedious for me after a while and it became somewhat difficult to differentiate between Isla and Hester’s voices in my head. However, if that is the only picking of nits I can find, I’d say this series is a hit.

All-in-all, I really enjoyed the series and will definitely be looking for more by this author.

Title: Blood and Illusion
Series: Coven Enforcers
Note: This is the third book in the series, book 3, but is a stand alone.
Author: Ann Gimpel

This is my review of Blood and Illusion, book 3 in The Coven Enforcers Series. I got this book in the series free in exchange for an honest review. This is the continuation of a great world and it can be read as a standalone with no cliffhanger ending, it is the whole story. Be warned though you will not want to stop with just this one book and you will want to know the whole story from start to beginning. This book mentions other characters from the other books and it may just been in passing but you may find yourself wanting to know more about the other couples. Despite the length it does move at a good pace and keeps you interested. In fact I moved through the book so fast I was sad when it was over. :(

This is the story of Isla who is a very independent with who does not join the Coven and instead has her own little group in San Francisco. The problem is dark mages are now after her group requiring her to need help. Enter Sam who is one of the Coven Enforcers. Even though Isla and her witches are not his Coven he is still sworn to protect all witches from evil even if the run their own group. It isn't long before the sparks start between Sam and Isla and it does not take Sam much time to fall in love with her but she is at danger and he must help her and her witches first. If they survive will he manage to convince her that she belongs with him? First he has to bring these witches back to the Coven in Salt Lake City safely where they were to meet up with the Coven's wagon train, something that will not be easy at all. At first Sam is pretty harsh in how he views Isla and thinks that she is too independent, proud, and outspoken but that pulls him to her even more. Isla on the other hand fins Sam to be alpha, aggravating, pig headed, conceited and full of himself and despite being interested in him she is not interested in giving any man power over her. These too make a dynamite couple and fight their way through evil in order to get to the answer of who is after the non-Coven aligned witches. This book helps tie everything together and give you the answers to the questions you have been asking from the past 2 books.

Extraordinary paranormal activity that lights up the western skies and the prairie along the way. This times its Sam’s turn to find what he has only found in the service of the Coven as enforcer. This time he rides to the rescue of a high spirited, outspoken, fierce witch with much to protect. Isla and her fellow sisters are in desperate need of protection for the evil of black magic moving in and taking over things. Escorting this group of equally spirited, feisty witches proves to be a task to beat all others. As the journey proceed forward Isla and Sam has to find a way to make things work. Everyone wants to make it to safety, safe and in one piece.

The journey brings danger, hidden mishaps, strange beings, and obstacles at every turn. Something has to give to make the journey go smoother and make things safer for all involved. Isla and Sam have their hands full with each other and working to get cooperation. The drama intensifies. The danger electrifies. The action, adventure, and suspense keeps the pages turning.

I found that Sam and Isla were a match that was destine to be drawn together. The spitfire of Isla drew Sam in and he thought he would be taming her, claiming her, and making her his. I will give him two of three. Gimpel made this an adventurous series and each one built upon the one before making the reads flow into each other. While at the same time leaving you wanted more and them more again. I do hope that with the re-release of this series that there will be more coming. There are other hot enforcers searching for his other half that will make him more.

Anyone who follows my reviews knows how much I love Ann Gimpel's work, and after reading this book.....wow, it just gets better and better!!!

This is the third book in the Coven Enforcer series and unfortunately the last one in the series, I could read this series forever. I seriously loved, loved, loved this. This book is a follow on from the second book, you don't have to read the first two to understand what is going on but it would make a lot more sense if you have read the first two books.

This book is Sam and Isla's story. Sam has been a coven enforcer for a long time and is used to being alone and on the road. He is extremely protective of those he cares about and he will always do what he deems to be right, even if others disagree, he has a personal code that he always lives by. Isla is a powerful witch who is not associated with a coven, she has banded together a group of non coven witches and they are her family. She is fierce and very independent, her inner fire shines out of her and she also will do what she thinks is right and is super protective about her family.

I loved this story..... I have to say.....Aethelred!!!!!!! People who have read this book know exactly what I am talking about and what scenes I am referring to but I wont spoil the surprise, just wait :-) You again meet characters from the first two books and quite a few new characters who all very very unique characters and personalities! This is a major page turner.... you will find yourself constantly turning pages to find out what action happens next as this book is full of action and adventure as well as hope, love and fear of the unknown.

You all seriously need to get a copy of this book, you will not regret it!!!

Showdown and love at last chance

This is the 3rd book in the Coven Enforcer Series from Ann Gimpel. It can be read as a standalone, but it makes sense to read all 3 books in order to follow the whole story of the fight between good and evil, you also have recurring characters. This book contains the, so far, final showdown between white and black magic.

Sam Jennings works as a Coven Enforcer, he is used to that life, has a strong sense of honor and is a problem solver. Hester sends a couple of enforcers to help a group of non-coven-witches, led by Isla McIntyre. Sams world as the Leader of that send Coven Enforcers group and Islas world as the Leader of the independent witches are clashing. Both are instantly attracted and soon figure out that they work well together and that their magic matches. The Enforcers decide to bring the witches to Breana’s Farm and to the security of the Coven, but it is a long way. Never let down your guard. As the story develops, the mystery about Aethelred and Mollie is revealed and the final showdown is a page turner.
I wrote it before, and write it now, if you like to read for once a different type of book, that is not 100% cliché, this is the one for you. Strong women and men, magic, inventions and all placed in “Cowboy territory”. These books are fast reads, because they are such page turners and won’t leave you wanting. The characters are strong, individual and very different and the story is well developed.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

GUARDIANS, MAGE, WITCHES & GODS!

In book 3 we read the story of Coven Guardian Sam Jennings....Sam was born in Austria, after having saved the life of royal with magic, he is shunned by his peers, thrown into prison and disowned by his family. Thus Sam sailed to Mexico where he honed his magical abilities and from there he sailed to the American colonies and became a Coven Guardian.

Sam is asked by Hester to go to San Fransisco and help some witches in hiding from Dark Sorcerors after receiving a distress call from. Problem is these witches aren't Coven witches, therefore immune to compulsion from Guardians. Sam finds himself straddled with a feisty Scottish lass, and her rubbing in the saddle has him standing at attention.

Isla McIntyre never thought that calling Hester for help would get her unused sex tingling on her ride to salvation. Better this than falling into the hands of the Dark beings after her and her sisters.

The Guardians and the witches on their way to meeting up with the Coven wagon train, come face to face with an evil they have never confronted. They are so close, will the Coven meet up with them in time to help in this battle before it is too late for them?

This series is so awesome and this particular one is so full of magical battles, it kept me on the edge of my chair. I could not put it down until I was finished. I hope Ms. Gimpel plans on writing more books in this series.

Loved this final book in the series. It had lots of twists and turns and new information about people we have met along the way. Sam and some of the enforcers were on their way to help a group of witches that were being attacked by Black Magick. They had no idea what they were going to find when they got there but they had promised help so that is what they would do. Sam and his friends had been through some difficult battles lately but they were ready to take on the evil for the better of all.
Isla is one of the witches that is hiding from the evil hunting them. They are not going to last much longer. Then the enforcers sweep in and they are all on the run. Isla and Sam didn't start off on the same page but soon learned that they really did compliment each other in thinking and power. But would they be able to survive long enough to find out if they could be together.
I was sad to see this end. Met lots of people that I could envision stories about. I loved the intricacies of magic in these stories, how the could take on so many variations and being paired with a stone. I enjoyed the complexities of the relationships between everyone. Great stories.

Book 3 culminates all we've previously read into one action, magical adventure after another. Isla the head of a non coven, Coven, has to ask Hester for help, black Magick users are threatening her coven and they are not strong enough to beat them. They've gone into hiding while awating Sam and the other Coven Enforcers to guard and guide them to a wagon train of coven people who are heading to Salt Lake city . Along the way there is more black Magick Witches and fights then ever before. Can Sam open his heart to Isla and can she open herself upto coven living and following their way of living. Most of all will any of them make it to Salt Lake city? Read the book and find out. Be prepared for some Steampunk gadgets and foul language during the intimate scenes, this is definitely not for below 18 years of age. I recommend this book to anyone who loves magic and steampunk ( though there is more magic use than steampunk). This is supposed to be the 3rd and last book in this series, but I truly hope Ann Gimpel comes back and revisits some of the minor characters and gives them their own books. 5☆'s . I recieved a gifted copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

This is still one to be picking up with this also being the third one. I hope though it is not the last because I really do like this series. It seems each one fits with each one having their own print in this. This one now is even a little bit different and have its own direction but still unique flavor that is the stamp of this. By now too this author has me salivating so much over these coven enforcers that man paranormal sure has been missing some of these fine men. Isla has her own issues with them being separate from the coven but not to be left high and dry in trouble. The heart of these guys is what ensnares me with even the way some of them have had it lonely at times you get front row seat on how that all changes. Love has its own magic with this author doing wonders with it showing in the right hands what it can be done with it. Sam will also have his help but his heart will get stolen just the same. The on the edge drama in this one will give you creases in the back of your legs but jelly in the legs from the heat. Like I said in beginning though when this one wraps up you hope that this is not the last of the magic western style.

This is the third and final book in the Coven Enforcers series. All three series books have been released so you don't have to wait for the next book to keep reading. While Blood and Illusion can be read as a standalone, I encourage you to read the first two books before this one. As the final book in the series, there isn't a cliffhanger. There is violence. The sex is hot and steamy so definitely 18+.

The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that info here. This is a story of good magic versus dark magic. The author did a great job of explaining the battle they were fighting while they tried to join up with the rest of the Coven. The storyline will keep you guessing what twists and turns will be revealed next, and what other nasty things the Dark would throw at them. It definitely kept me riveted. There definitely were some surprises revealed in this book, especially for those of us who have read some of Ann Gimpel's other series.

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This third book in the Coven Enforcers series is as exciting and chilling as the rest. Hester receives a distress call from witches in San Francisco that are non-Coven members, but threatened by dark magic users. They are in hiding trying to bide their time until the Enforcers can get there to help. Sam is leading this group back to Salt Lake City for safety. Isla is their leader and they have been on their own for years. Even though the Enforcers are there to help get them to safety, the women are just shy of rude to them. Despite the witches attitude, the Enforcers will do their job. Isla and Sam reluctantly have a curious draw to each other. The battles get more dangerous and more frequent with more demons and dead things coming out of the ground, literally. With Dark Magic intent on keeping this group from joining the Coven, can the Enforcers and witches reach a working relationship to get them all through? This has so much action and suspense that you won't be able to put it down. I requested an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.

I received this book for free to read and leave an honest review. This is the third book in the series, but again, it can be read as a stand-alone, although I feel it is quite worth it to read all three in order and as a whole because they are just so exciting and well-done. Isla isn't part of the Coven and has her own San Francisco group. Dark mages are after her and she needs help to fend them off. Sam, a Coven Enforcer, is sworn to protect all witches. And they do become romantically involved. I thoroughly enjoyed this series. It was the first paranormal romance with a steampunk edge that I have ever read, and I wish the series would go on. This was just so well-written with such an absorbing and original storyline, I don't want it to end. The romance was great. The action was outstanding. Ann Gimpel's writing and stories are wonderfully done and makes you really imagine easily all the workings of the story as if you are there. I highly recommend these books. I thought they were wonderful.

Blood and Illusion is the third and final novel in the Coven Enforcers series by Ann Gimpel. In this third novel, we meet up with Sam, one of the most powerful Coven Enforcers, and a whole mess of witches who are not part of the Coven, but are still being threatened and killed. The leader of this ragtag group of witches seems to be Isla. I openly admit it, Isla is my favorite of all of the characters in these novels. She’s smart and sassy, yet still soft and gentle. Sam is a real warrior who must use every single trick he knows (and then some) in order to save these wild witches. The storyline picks up right where Blood and Sorcery, the second book, leaves off. I felt it was a perfect conclusion to the story, and wrapped it up quite nicely. As with the other 2 novels, this one is added to my favorites shelf. I look forward to reading more from Author Ann Gimpel. I did receive a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

Our fight between Light and Dark Magik continues in this final book of the series. Gimpel has really hit all the right notes in keeping the pages turning until the end. Sam and Isla were perfect for their HEA ending along with bringing in the others from the previous books. I love the twists that keep on surprising me as we move through one scene after another. I still am thrilled that this still has a Western flair against the usual Medieval flair of the usual norm, but it still manages to include the Celtic resonance of old magic in front of the spells cast.

This series has held my interest from the beginning and it had a even greater finish. Gimpel didn't disappoint. I highly recommend this series.

Wow
This is awesome, I love all three books. They are good have a lot to do with good and evil. But that make for a good book. In this on it is as good as the first. The Guys are all about the same but this one is stuck on himself. The witches are all strong even though some don't think so. The fight for good will, the fight for evil and the twist, turns, and the suspance is so intense. I could not put the book down. Iam sorry this is the last book. The author has done a wonderful job in making me fill like I was in all 3 book, when I read them. I recommend this and the others. So grad a copy, your favorite drink and turn the world off you don't want to miss anything.

Received this book free for an honest review. Wow, this book brings the series to it's apex in the story. Good vs. Evil and all. Although this is the last book published in the series, the author has left some other avenues open for further story telling in the future, if she so wishes. The romance in this book was like making a slow-cooked meal... It culminated into a spectacular finish after all the right ingredients were placed in the pot at the right time. There was no rushing or hap-hazard pawing about. I really liked the character development and storyline in this book. I'd like to see what happens to the other characters in this series. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long to find out.

This is the third book in the Coven Enforcer series. This time it is Sam and Isla's story. Sam is asked to travel to San Francisco to rescue a group of witches that are not part of the Coven.Once there he and the other Enforcers are attacked by dark sorcerers. Sam then meets Isla. She is proud, headstrong and independent. Sparks fly between these two from the very beginning. Will love grow as well? Another awesome read!! I love this series. It has magic, witches, mages, Enforcers and all other sorts of creatures both dark and light. The characters are wonderful and the story will have you from the first chapter to the ending page. I hope in the future that there will be more books in this series. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an ho

Sam Jennings is an enforcer for the coven. He and some other enforcers come to the aide of witches who are not part of the coven in San Francisco. It's were he meets Isla who is a spitfire who speaks her mind and can become downright hostile and yet his body wants her followed quickly by his heart.
Now if only they can live long enough to get back to the coven they might work things out. Add to that evil is pouring out of the ground every place they go.

Ann Gimpel is a phenomenal writer the story has mystery, action, and full of twist and turns that will blow your mind. Fantastic characters that are larger then life. I love the mix of magic old country, witch, warlocks and dark. It's awesome.
Book given for an honest review and I honestly loved it.

Last book in the Coven Enforcers series it can be read as a stand alone but to really know what is happening I would recommend reading the series in order. Sam, was born in Austria and now work's for the Coven as one of their enforcers, he and some of the other enforcers have gone to San Francisco to help protect a group of Non-Coven witches who are being threatened by Dark Magick. The Enforcers are to bring these witches back to the Coven in Salt Lake City safely. Isla is head of this group of Non-Coven witches and Sam and her get off to a rocky start. Will Sam and the other Enforcers be able to keep her group safe? Who is after Isla’s group and why? I was gifted a copy for an honest review.

A definite must read!!. The series is very well written. Sam and Isla are captivating and quirky. Love it!. I read it in one night, I couldn't put it down! Sam hurries to teach Isla and the witches that called for help. Can he save them in time will they survive until he gets there?. The excitement and suspense will have you on the edge of your seat while you wipe the sweat from your brow from the hot, sexy, and sensual scenes. I highly recommend it.

I was given this e-book by the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. My conclusions are my own. I was not compensated in any way.

This is the best of the three Coven Enforcers books. The problems I noted with the first two (characters needed more development and unnecessary use of crude language) have been fixed in this book, leading to a more cohesive story. The plot in this book is more finely developed, as well. I liked the twist regarding Aethelred, Luke's rescuer and mentor from book 1; I didn't see that one coming. I won't say more and spoil the surprise. I'd also like to commend the editing. I found only one place where I was thrown off my reading rythem, and it looked like a partial edit of the sentence that just wasn't completed. Kudos to Mrs. Gimpel for strengthening her writing as the series progressed.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Book 3 is a wonderful conclusion to the Coven Enforcer series. I adore Isla and Sam. They are such a perfect match to each other. Ann Gimpel is a master at writing fantasy. You can't resist getting hooked from the start. I love the Celtic mythology she weaves into the tales. I hope she eventually writes more books in this series as I'd love to see the rest of the guys find love. I'm thoroughly hooked and sad to see this series end!

This third and final book in the Coven Enforcers series is a satisfying ending to the series. It delivers the same great mix of action, suspense and romance as the other two stories and provides plenty of surprises.

I really liked how strong Isla is and how determined she is to protect herself and others. She doesn't back down and expect a hero to ride to her rescue. Sam is sexy and arrogant and the kind of man who can stand with her. They make a great team.

I received a copy in return for a honest review

This is Isla and Sam’s story. Book 3 in the Coven Enforcers Series.

Will Isla and Sam be able to fight the dark magic and get over their past to be able to love one another and be together? Will the dark magic end them all?

If you haven’t read this series, I highly recommend you do so. I had a hard time putting these books down, I just had to know what happened next. So far this is the last book in the series but I’m hoping the author will continue with it as I would love to know what happens with the rest of the crew.

Isla and her small group of witches get forced into hiding by some dark sorcerers. She manages to get a call out for help to an old friend, who sends help. Sam and other Coven enforcers are out to help Isla and her friends.

SO much happens in this book. It is a great ending to this series. I don't want to give anything away but I love Aethelred and Mollie! Hester and some of the others are back as well. Maybe one day we will get to read Rowan's story.
