It took me the first several chapters to get into this book, but I'm glad I stuck with it. I learned LOTS of astonishing facts about the globalization of food, and what "free markets" are really all about.

Did you know that women produce 90% of the world's food?!?!

If you consider yourself any sort of sociologist, I'd recommend this book. It's very "text-booky", but like I said - lots of parts were highly fascinating.

Excellent overview of the world of agriculture and food from a sociological perspective. Provides a large amount of information in an easy to read way, also suggests numerous other sources to read about each topic. Highly recommend.
