The Old Man's Guide to Health and Longer Life

Rate this book
A lifestyle guide to longevity and good health - from 1750. Writing in an age when the majority of men didn't live to see their fiftieth birthday, John Hill provides practical dvice on diet, exercise and lifestyle, including sleep and emotional health.

Full of genuinely good advice, the book offers sage insights as well as ridiculous regimes - making it a perfect gift for a man of more mature years.

An interesting read. First published in 1750 some of the advice is really quite modern whereas some of it is just bonkers - syrup of snails anyone?

Interesting to see advice given in the 1750s on living a healthier and longer life, but I had hoped for some humorously weird and wonderful ideas, but the advice given was all pretty mundane.
