I find I’m not a fan of 1940’s murder mysteries. I found the personalities irritating. Many others might enjoy this author but this book was not for me.
Antiques shop assistant Emma Marsh loves Hank, really she does. But when older man Amos Currier pays some attention to her, she's more than willing to make Hank jealous, especially when Amos' obnoxious niece Eunice acts like Emma is a fortune-hunter. When a weekend at Amos' farm ends up in murder, Emma is in trouble with the police and with Hank. What's worse is that the police suspect Emma's boss, to whom she's unshakably loyal, despite his bad habits. After yet another fight with Hank, Emma decides she'll investigate on her own.
