Angel by My Side
All his life, Michael acted on his caring tendencies. Turning away from his dreams, not living his life for himself, and staying in one place for the sake of others. But he lived through those times without regrets. His parents needed him and nothing or no one could dissuade him otherwise. After his father’s death, he faces the realization of being alone AND that’s when he heard HIM. Afraid to think that he’s losing his mind, Michael responds to the voice in his head demanding for answers and for the owner of the voice to show himself. A blinding flash of light appears in front of him, slowly dimming into a ball of fire then taking shape into a man. With wings!! The next few days with the perfect being changed his life and it’s about to affect his death too. Everything has its own unique purpose, and Michael is about to uncover his... Sample 1: I let my mind wander, filling it with images of Jim, both from reality and my fantasy. My head arched against the pillow as I lowered my hand and caressed my balls. I imagined what it would be like if my fantasy had been reality and Jim had really offered himself to me. As my hand stroked faster, I imagined dropping to my knees and taking him into my mouth, caressing him with my tongue. I fought for breath as the sensations grew tighter in my belly, as my body readied to explode. It had been weeks since I'd last pleasured myself, since I'd last found release. Why are you doing that? The voice shocked me into stopping, my breath panting. My body instantly cooled as I grabbed at the sheets below my body. I wrapped myself with the sheet and shook from repressed need and an uncontrollable anger. "Who the hell are you?" Sample 1: "Aroused?" I bit back a groan. I honestly didn't think I could explain every nuance of sex to Mason at that moment. "Yeah. Aroused. Very much so." I had my eyes shut, trying to will my body to calm. Mason's hand closed around my shaft and stroked once. I muffled a curse and jumped back. "Don't do that. Please don't." Mason looked away. "I'm sorry. Did I hurt you?" I tilted his face back to look at me. "In the best of ways." He cocked his head to the side. "I don't understand." I pulled him closer and wrapped my arms around him...

About the author
D.W. Simon
30 books8 followersD.W. Simon finally got his stuff together and came out of the closet at 28. The only problem is, he'd spent so much time in there, he never learned to date, socialize, have self-confidence, etc. Somehow he thought that by just admitting, even to himself that he was gay, that he would automatically get the husband, the house, the 2.5 kids, and all the rest. Sadly, that didn't happen.
So... in making sure that he stayed sane, D. W. began writing. Not only writing to put on paper what he wanted, thought was sexy, and was hoping to find, but actually seeing what was out there. It started as a grand experiment, to get feedback, just to find out if any of his desires could come true. The next thing you know, he had completed 25 short stories, had a huge fan base, and considered actually making this his full-fledged career.
Now, many years later, D. W. has the husband, the house, no kids but five cats, and is working on his own happily ever after. All of his works are fiction, none of them actually happened. D. W. has always been amazed at how many of his fans wonder if his writing is auto-biographical in nature. The answer is no, it isn't.

Here goes nothing... "SPLASH!!"
So, I've seen this somewhere before. Oh right, the City of Angels. The concept wasn't that original when you come to think of it but somehow the author played with his fantasies to make the story his. And I admire that.
Can you imagine if this were true? I'd like to believe there are angels, but to think that we each have our own watching us? I'd never get the chance to dance around naked again (NOT that I actually did that. ha ha).
Ever since he got around to thinking, Micheal lived an unselfish life. Giving up a huge part of himself in the process of compromising by molding his plans around the life of those around him. Typical Saint tendencies. No wonder he gets a hunk of an angel for the rest of his life. IF he ever gets around to living it (NO SPOILERS ALLOWED!)...
At first, I didn't know what to expect. When I got to the middle, I had an idea of what's going to happen. Then, I arrived at the end and I was like "Writer guy says what?".. This is a very good story all in all and I didn't expect the ending. Some of you might have. I overstimulated my brain cells and thought about more interesting ways to end this and most of them aren't too happy endings (only one was happy). But the author did end this in a happily ever after, although not what I would've chosen, It still was good enough to leave a smile on my face. Kudos!

I'm going 3 stars...there were things about this that I really liked, and some that were kinda...I don't know. Its a short, quick read, but its interesting from the beginning and well written in that you immediately feel for Michael. As mentioned in another review, this isn't the most original idea, but I don't mind that because I felt like the author owned it. My issues with the book were 1 (and this isn't the writing, this is my personal preference) I'm not so much into those books where one characters is totally unaware of basic human like things, I understand this point in the story, but as I said for me, its just not my fav....my second issue...I like my steamy scenes a little more frequent and ...well...graphic...so the three times in this book wasn't enough for me, especially with the shower teasers!
Overall, it was worth the read and I would read more from this author.

Michael is a saint. Not only does he care for his aging parents, every decision his makes for his own life is made in order that it doesn't get in the way of being there for them. First for his Mother who has Cancer and then his Father who has Alzheimer's, so Michael never has the chance to learn about love or sex. When both parents are gone, Michael brings about the being of his own Angel, who watches over Martyrs. Short read.
