Lose yourself...

I fell in love with the first book, Valentina about a year ago, and was dying to continue the erotic exploration of her story. Valentina is strong and sexy and liberated, but at the same time, she is vulnerable and unsure of her who she is and what she wants, played in big part to her rather adventuress family history.

This book centers around Maria, Valentina's grandmother, and her sudden initiation into a powerful, sexual relationship. She leaves behind her youth and innocence and loses herself entirely to a man, and his camera. Meanwhile, Valentina continues her quest to win back the love of her life Theo, who now lives and works in London. Bringing her outrageous friend Antonella along for the ride, Valentina realizes she must prove her love for Theo with total abandonment and sexual liberation.

The build up of sexual tension in this book was intoxicating, if the 'climax' was a little bit of a let down. Anita must be the most understanding woman on the planet. And with another cliff hanger ending resulting in more frustrating abstinence for months on end, it will be a long hard wait for the next installment.

(1st reading)

I was so very excited for the second installation of the Valentina series. I don't know whether I wasn't in the right frame of mind but it took me forever to get into this book and when I finally got into it, I was just so impatient to figure out the mystery, to see Valentina and Theo together. I didn't like a couple of the characters in this book, particularly Anita. I did however like the way Blake handled Valentina opening up and embracing her feelings. I liked that this book wasn't erotic driven, more storyline driven. However, having said that, I feel like the storyline was a little bit slow. The first one was so gripping and engaging and I was driven to read it but I didn't feel that same enthusiasm with this book - again, that could be because I wasn't in the right frame of mind. Overall, I enjoyed it; I think Blake revealed some interesting twists and the ending just blew me away! I'm keen for the next book.

I picked it from the local library, attracted by the blurb. Maria's story is simply gorgeous, has a golden aura that completely seduces you. Valentina's adventure is very nice built, very intense and rewarding in terms of emotions :))
