Stanley Rosen was Borden Parker Bowne Professor of Philosophy and Professor Emeritus at Boston University. His research and teaching focused on the fundamental questions of philosophy and on the most important figures of its history, from Plato to Heidegger.

یک افلاطون‌گراییِ نو که از مجرای تفسیری آیرونیک و نانوشته‌خوانِ دیالوگ‌ها همچون درام، تنشی درونی در خودِ فلسفه میانِ فلسفه و شعر را پی می‌گیرد؛ نوئِین و اِینای هیچ‌کدام به تنهایی در تناظر با شعر و فلسفه نیستند. آیا بیانِ فلسفی بیانِ امرِ بیان‌ناشدنی است که به شکلی مسامحی درباره‌ی آن سخن گفته می‌شود یا آپوریا، آیرونی و امرِ منفی است که با سخن، با « دروغِ شریف» به سکوت می‌خواند؟ اگر شعر با بَرخوانیِ اسطورهْ پژواکِ این سکوت در سخن باشد، فلسفه جایی که ضمامِ خویش را از کف می‌دهد و بیخودی می‌کند به شعر بدل می‌شود؟ در این صورت، فلسفه تنها تا جایی حقیقتن فلسفه است که بی‌آنکه شعر باشد در این تنش درونی تسلیم شعر شده باشد.
