I really enjoyed this story. I don’t normally read fantasy romances but this story hooked me from page one until the very end. The author did a wonderful job combining modern day with the Norse mythology world, and creating a hero and heroine you couldn’t help but fall in love with, and pull for, as they worked their way through the challenges presented to them by both of their very different worlds. The story is well written and the pacing is well balanced.

I wasn't crazy about this book. It came up on a list of freebies for my birthday and I was in a reading slump and decided to give this a try. I needed something different and I got it. It wasn't a horrible book and I did enjoy it overall, but every time I read Jord's name, I thought of Chris Hemsworth as Thor in the movies, who was actually Jord's father in this book. I guess that's fanfiction for you, not something I normally read, but this was okay.

Jord is the son of Thor. Meghan is a curator at a museum--I think she was a curator. The book was so long, I forgot what her job was. She worked in a museum for sure and that's how she met "Professor Thorson", who was actually Jord. He came to check out some artifact that had mysteriously showed up at the museum. It was his father's belt and his father was missing. Yes, that's it. The belt attached itself to Meghan and that kept her linked to Jord, who was on a quest to find his father.

I'd heard of Ragnarock. I did watch the Thor movies, only because Chris Hemsworth is hot and I liked the stories about Thor, but I didn't really know what it was. I wasn't sure even as this story unfolded and finally googled it then the light came on.

This sort of thing really isn't my genre and I don't want to leave an unfair review. I did like the story. It was full of action, some suspense, a bit or romance, and it would be easy to see it as a movie. With that being said, there was a scene in the book that stuck with me. Meghan asked how the gods were created and Jord told her humans created the gods. They needed something to believe in. That made me think. There's probably some truth to that, although I don't doubt the existence of an all-knowing, all-seeing God that cannot be destroyed. Even the Norse gods believe that. I think one of them said something to the effect that there is a power higher than them.

Regardless, I did enjoy the book. I really loved Jord, Meghan, the rest of the good gods, and I didn't like the evil god, Loki and his pals. It was intended to be that way and the book was successful in that way.

The short story at the end was pretty good, too. Requiem for Poseidon. I had no idea Poseidon was dead or that he had a garden beneath the sea. Nor did I know that two gods could meld into one and become a reckoning force to destroy evil. Can they undo that once it's done?

This was a good read and a pleasant diversion.

One day you're just minding your own business, doing your job at the museum in the middle of Minnesota... next thing you know you're fighting off frost giants and developing the hots for Jord, son of Thor (yes, that Thor). The story was good and the author definitely did their homework (there's a bunch of gods I wasn't even familiar with). GR won't let me do it, but this is a 3 1/2 stars for me. Better than your average romance book (although Meghan, the protagonist, still seems to focus on his "sexy body" even when people/elves/gods/whatever are dying all around her), but not quite the top flight fantasy that is my personal preference. That being said, S.C. Mitchell writes a good enough plot that I'd love to see what they do in a contemporary fantasy or even mystery book. Nice surprise at the end.

My only complaint was that the "big secret" was too obvious from the get-go. Other than that, great stuff! Lots of good story that didn't just center on romance, but was enhanced by it.

This is the kind of fantasy romance I like, packed with more plot than just the romance. Museum curator Meghan Larson finds her stable, comfortable life turned upside down when a curious artifact turns up in her museum's mail. She calls in a professor of Norse antiquities to consult, but Jord Thorson turns out to be more Indiana Jones than elbow-patch researcher. And he's not the only one after the mystery belt with superpowers that belongs to his father, Thor, the Norse god himself. What follows is a wild ride up the rainbow bridge to Asgaard and throws Meghan and Jord back and forth between various worlds of Norse mythology and Midgaard, the human world, in search of the missing Thor's other two objects of power. Destiny is always integral to myth, and there is a prophecy that both Meghan and Jord try to subvert, based on their own limited understanding of what the words might mean. But destiny will out despite both human and godly efforts.

This is a fast-paced, wild ride into what is usually the lesser known world of Norse mythology but recently popularized by the THOR movie. I enjoyed learning about the mythology and seeing how the author modernized and adapted it to his storyline. One particularly appealing aspect is the author's depiction of the family dynamic in Asgaard as relatively normal despite their status as (mostly) immortal. The characters are appealing and sympathetic but, if I would ask for anything, it would be to give them a bit more depth as the author develops what is likely to be a series.

It only causes trouble when a god loves a mortal, and this story has plenty of trouble.

Ladies, give this book to your significant other as this well-written story will keep him interested while teaching him about Norse mythology. The male character, while a Norse god, has issues that any man can understand-self doubt, how to love a woman who is out of your league and whom you should not be thinking about. Told primarily from the hero's point of view, men can identify with this hero, and yes, there is a heroine who has her love concerns also.

The hero, Jord Thorson, is searching for his missing father, Thor, the Norse God of Thunder. Jord is contacted by Meghan Larson, the heroine and a mortal, who as a museum director has come into possession of Megingjörð, Thor's magical belt of power. Jord and Meghan are plunged into adventures as they race across the heavens in an attempt to rescue Thor, deal with prophesies, and battle giants, black elves, and evil gods to save Asgaard.

Romance and action are packed into an entertaining book that you have to read.

This book does not disappoint and holds something for everyone. A romance, war story, history lesson and fairy tale rolled into one. I quite enjoyed this read.

Thrown together as an unlikely mortal and god pair Meghan, (a sassy and witty human) and Jord, (a fierce, loyal fighter and all around good guy) must unravel an evil plan laid by Loki while also trying to solve and thwart a prophecy that, if it comes true, would change everything they have both known.

If you like reading about legends, myths, and old and new gods all blended with a twist, you will enjoy this book too.

I don't have too much knowledge on Norse mythology so this was an interesting read. Even to someone like me that knows the basics, you get to learn a lot more by reading Son of Thunder without it becoming too intense and with too much information overload.

I did enjoy the book, it was a light and entertaining read, likeable characters and a sweet romance. I will read book 2 in the series.

Loved this book! I was lucky enough to review an early copy and that was good, but the tweaks made prior to publishing were really top notch. Meghan and Jord's tale of adventure and romance is spiced nicely with Norse mythology. Very entertaining read!

Adventurous and interesting read. Like the Greek mythology, Norse mythology has it's own intriguing politics when it comes to dominion and power. Wonderful story! I'm looking forward for the next book!

Wonderful! Pulls you in from the beginning and keeps the excitement level up! Not lost during the story even with basic mythology knowledge unlike another series I've tried to read
