3.5. The best part of this short book was the collection of Scripture's connected to each section. Well worth meditating on as fear is a theme addressed from cover to cover in the Bible. My main problem with the book was how pretty much everything else sounded like a catch-phrase or platitude. Some of these were really good; others lacked nuance or any real meat; still others either rang false or needed explanation. If I were looking to give a book on how to deal with fear to someone, I'd look elsewhere.
I was surprised how much I liked this. It is a compilation from some of his other books, and I loved its readability, and the message. The biggest fun fact I walked away with was that more than any other thing, Jesus tells us not to fear; to trust God. He said it more than even loving our neighbors. It was truly inspirational, and I don't normally get into these types of books. Maybe I've just been reading the wrong types of inspirational books.

Fear Not is filled with encouraging words from across Lucado's body of work, including his newly released book Fearless. If you know someone that does not enjoy reading longer books, Fear Not would be perfect because it filled with short, inspirational quotes.
Now I understand why I decided to read this book: I was suffering from depression, and you should know that it did not help me. I stopped reading self-help books and started going to therapy with specialists, and there is nothing better. Of course, nobody likes to live in a world full of fear and uncertainty, as the author writes in the synopsis, but each case is a case. Belief in God depends on each person as well, and the solutions indicated do not always apply. Nothing new in the enchanted world of self-help. Those who liked it, okay, I respect it, but it didn't work for me. I have my therapist for that.
I listened to the audio book version in the car to and from work. I love Max Lucado's work, and this one in particular resonated with me. Perhaps because I'm going through a rough patch. I found my self nodding or crying while listening. I felt quite comforted by the message and will like buy it in print for my personal library.
I read this on my Kindle Fire HD and it seemed hard to follow and not organized. I don't know if it was because of it being on a kindle or just the way it was written.
