I learned that the last supernova took place in 1987! I learned about T tauri stars which are found when a star is being created. I learned the T-class brown dwarf stars are not "true" stars. This was one of the best books I have ever read. Anyone who loves space should read this wonderful book! This book is available at Barnes and Noble!

Young space enthusiasts will appreciate this outer space guide that looks at planetary topography and gives facts and figures about the universe with extensive maps, constellation charts, diagrams, cross-sections of asteroids and meteorites, the space shuttle program, stunning photographs capturing exploding supernovas and distant galaxies.

Explore the inner and outer solar system, other solar systems, nebulas, stars, variable stars, supernovas, and star clusters. Learn about the Milky Way, galaxies, galaxy clusters, black holes, and deep space.

Go stargazing, observe the sun, the moon, the planets; learn about constellations and use a star map. Explore space from the earliest observers to giant leaps and modern astronomy. Visit space with the astronauts; learn about space probes and the possibility of life in the universe.

Pictures, diagrams, illustrations, and facts fill each oversize full-color page; a glossary supports the text.

Highly recommended.

Love it. We will probably end up buying this. Like it a lot better than the "Space" book in the Insider's Series (of which Atlas of the Universe is a part). Good reference for 5-12 year olds, and also very interesting for adults.
