Thank goodness they changed the cover to this one. I loved the interactions of the kitchen staff, this book dispels that not all are back stabbers. Nick and Mari had background issues, who doesn't. I would recommend this as a quickie read for a cooking selection.
2.5 stars Standard contemporary romance . Nothing particularly noteworthy but if you like straight-up romance it is good enough – I just prefer a bit of mystery, intrigue or paranormal with mine. I much preferred this authors later work - Level Up (also straight up contemporary romance but with such adorable characters and great chemistry, plus the nerd factor). I was a little annoyed by how much was made of Nick’s ambition like it was a bad thing. There is NOTHING wrong with a great chef wanting his own 4 star restaurant. I do like the way Mari handles it when he gets hi opportunity though. There is no making him feel guilty or asking him to stay. She doesn’t want him to leave but nor does she want to stand in the way of his dreams.
