Magical Holiday Matchmaker #2

Howling Good New Year

Rate this book
A matchmaker who won't let death stop her, four shifters on the run, and the one woman who can take them on…

Zelda: All work and no play means I'm ready to get laid.

Having influencers for best friends means spending New Year's at a luxury Jamaican resort. My goal is to forget work and enjoy myself. Fate seems to be smiling at me when I have a chance meeting with a tall, sexy stranger named Lakyn in the library.

But Lakyn is not what or who he appears to be. Under one face are four different men who claim to be shifters, all of whom believe I'm their fated mate.

That's one way to ring in the New Year…

Howling Good New Year is a standalone shifter romance in the same universe as Holiday Horrors. It features multiple love interests for both the hero and heroes. Please see book interior for any content concerns.

This was a fun little tropical holiday romp with sexy men and a strong FMC that made me smile. Loved the group dynamic and the mystical elements to this, but what really shined was the FMC and her unexpected, yet perfect, reactions to the different challenges thrown her way. Great read and will likely dive into the rest of the series!

As this book opens, we meet Zelda. Her friends Murphy, Denise and Olive have convinced her to join them on this Caribbean Island a week before New Years at a resort full of Social Media Influencers. We learn all about them from Zelda's thoughts, as she seeks a quiet place away from the noise and chaos of the massive party in progress. Zelda is peopled out. She needs quiet and a good book. She loves books, romance books of all kinds, shifter, alien, you name it she's probably read it or has it on her to be read list.

Just as Zelda finds the library, a beautiful one and hopes to be alone to peruse the many beautiful books, something significant is happening somewhere else.

With an alarm blaring, Bellamy has the artifact as he and his pack flees. He's been separated from Cassius and Rai but hears Taj behind him. Taj yells for him to keep going then he's gone in a puff of smoke. Bellamy doesn't know what's going on but suddenly they are not where they were. His pack is with him but where are they? There's the scent of leather, and cleaning products and the ocean... The other scent is mate... a human mate.

This sudden change of environment has Rai fighting for control over his dire wolf. Bellamy beckons for Cassius and Taj to help him. Taj is holding a large grimoire like book, when he opens it, they find it's Madam Abednego’s Matchmaking Handbook. they had done a ritual seven years prior, when they were a young pack. Now they would have to figure out how to handle this. Their mate is human they need to figure out how to approach her and not alienate her in the process. Of course, while their approach works for a bit, it does backfire and when it does, Zelda runs, well swims away.

While their explanation is good, Zelda isn't ready to forgive. They are really lucky her reading has given her insight into shifters, wolves and pack.

From here they work on building relationships and friendship with her friends as well.

There are more than a couple surprises in this book, and I certainly didn't see them coming. But don't let me forget to mention the pull of attraction and the sizzling heat between Zelda and these guys.

I can't wait to read the next installment in this holiday series.

I'd rate this a 3.5 stars. Zelda is happy with her computers and her books, not one for wild nights out. But when a chance for an exotic trip with her best friends comes up she can't say no. The four men of the Lakyn pack were finishing up a mission when they suddenly find themselves in Jamaica, close to Zelda. Years ago they went to a paranormal matchmaker but when they never found their mate they assumed that the spell didn't work. But now that they are close to Zelda they realize they just needed to wait. Convincing Zelda to be open to a relationship with four men is going to be a bit of a challenge. When they finally tell her the truth. An interesting read, I'm not sure I felt the connection between them all, but some good spice.

This book sucked me in pretty fast. Shifter (especially Wolf)books aren't really my thing but this book has made me rethink that. I LOVED it. Zelda started out as what I thought was a push over but boy was I wrong. SO strong and she pulled them all together. I would love to read more in this series.

LOVE

It’s always exciting to discover a new author. I absolutely loved everything about this book. My only criticism is there were a few editing misses, but this has become more and more the norm in the past several years, and it thankfully wasn’t egregious. The story was also awesome enough to forgive.

Enjoyed

Reverse harem, new years eve, draws you in. I was expecting a light romance. Much better than expected. As the characters back stories come out, you can't put down the book. Read it in less than a day.

I expected the usual reversed harem type smut.

What I got was a spicy enjoyable urban fantasy. Lots of fun , but so sad at parts. I was invested from day one of picking it up.
