Kicked out of his house for not being as mean and nasty as a ghost should be, Casper the Friendly Ghost seeks out his best friend, Wendy the Good Little Witch, who is herself being cast out for not being as evil as a witch should be. The two friends soon join the Very Polite Bears for some games and fun times, until the malicious Witch Weevil casts a spell to turn the ursine siblings into growling terrors. Fortunately Casper and Wendy realize what's going on, and find a way to counteract the spell...

A classic and beloved specter, Casper the Friendly Ghost debuted in 1945, in Famous Studios' animated film The Friendly Ghost, going on to feature in fifty-five theatrical cartoons from 1945 to 1959. Harvey Comics began publishing comic books about Casper in 1952, with his friend Wendy the Good Little Witch first appearing in 1954, in the 20th installment of the series. This comic picture book, Casper the Friendly Ghost and Wendy the Good Little Witch, was first published in 1963, and has been reprinted many times. It can also be found in the 1978 story collection, Casper, the Friendly Ghost and Wendy, the Good Little Witch Storybook . Leaving all of that history aside, this was a sweet little ghost and witch story, featuring appealing cartoon-style artwork (naturally) and a cute tale about being kind. Although I cannot recall specifics of how I encountered the character first, I feel I have always known Casper, and this therefore has some nostalgic charm for me. Recommended to children who enjoy stories of friendly ghosts (of which there are many!).

Casper and Wendy get together with two Very Polite Bear Cubs [sic] for some fun and games. Of course this disgusts evil Witch Weevil who casts a spell on the cubs turning playing to fighting. In this colorful story we get to see Casper use his ghostly powers and Wendy use her witchly powers to dispel the curse so all can return to having a wholesome good time.
