Between Sundays is the first Kingsbury book I read, It got me hooked!

This book is fantastic and I greatly enjoyed getting to read it. I have wanted to read Oceans Apart since I first saw the cover and read what the book was about. I finally took the time to read it and was I thankful that I did. This book is so good and I highly recommend it to you all, I loved the book and I know you will too. I cried while reading most of this book but it was so worth all of the tears.

This is a story about an airline pilot Connor Evans that made a mistake and during a time of weakness he had a very short affair with Kiahna Siefert. She never told anyone who the baby belonged to and gave up all of her dreams to become a mother to her fantastic son Max. After Max was born she became an airline stewardess. Ramey was Max's babysitter from his time of birth on. She loved him but was having heart problems and not in good enough health to care for him full time. When Max was 7 his mother and everyone on her plane died in a plane crash that went down in the Pacific Ocean. Kiahna had been in contact with a lawyer since his birth and had left instructions of what to do at her time of death.

Before seven year old Max can be turned over to the state, he must spend the summer with the father he’s never met, the father who doesn’t know he exists: Connor Evans. Connor is married to Michele and they have two girls Susan is eight and Elizabeth is 10. How will they all react to Max and will they accept him and Buddy, his best friend a yellow Labrador retriever. Or will Max and Buddy become wards of the state?

I enjoyed this story very much. It reminded me the power of forgiveness and that God expects us to forgive as Jesus forgives us. Forgiveness doesn’t mean whatever was done to you by another is “ok”. Forgiveness means you are at peace and no longer bitter or angry or holding a grudge for a wrong that was done to you by another. It is what Christ teaches us to do. I sort of forgot all this. The story of this little boy and his Mother and the obstacles they both faced was sweet and touching.

Karen Kingsbury is such a good Christian writer. I’ve read most of her Baxter Family series which I also really enjoyed. I would recommend this book.

Only loved Oceans Apart. The second story had no appeal to me.

My review of Oceans Apart:

This was such a beautiful story about seven-year-old Max who loses his mother and is send to spend the summer with the father he never met. I loved this story, simple because of Max and Connor's relationship grows.

Connor and his wife are on opposing sides for a good portion of the book in regards to Max. Connor really wants him to stay, but, his wife thinks it is too weird, because of Connor's affair/\.

Again, Between Sundays was not a fav of mine. Not a fan of sports.

2020:
I loved Between Sundays. The audiobook made it a much more real and fun story to read. So glad i gave it another chance.

Two books in one. I'm not sure which I liked best - but both were good stories with real life problems and people blessed by God's Grace and Love. Both had good messages and even though I thought the themes may have been a little over the top - I always enjoy reading a book that leaves me feeling good about life's ups and downs. Knowing that God's plan always prevails even if we don't remember that He is always right beside us. We just have to stop and listen.
