The adventure continues. After fleeing the city of Bond, Kron Darkbow and companions travel across countryside, over mountains and into the evils of the Prison Lands. Their mission? To enter the dark land of Kobalos and confront its infamous king, Lord Verkain. But Verkain isn't the only evil in Kron's path. The barbarian underworld chief Belgad the Liar is still hot on Kron's trail, and demons and other monsters lie along the road.

This is the middle book of the Kobalos trilogy, which is the first part of the Kron Darkbow series. My 3 star rating is possibly a bit generous, perhaps 2 1/2 stars would be a better rating.

Like the first volume, this is fairly generic fantasy, reasonably well-written, although the need for a proof-reader is more obvious in this book than in the last. The characters are developing, albeit slowly, with the most development going to the main character, Kron. The villains tend to be a bit two-dimensional. There is more combat in this book than in the first, which is unfortunate, as the author is not particularly good at writing combat scenes, he is much better at the interaction between characters.

I will read the next book to finish the trilogy, but I'm not sure I will continue with the second trilogy.

Once again, Ty Johnston has written a winner. This book is the sequel to City of Rogues (Book I of the Kobalos Trilogy). It continues the story of a small group traveling to Kobalos and all their adventures along the way. As always, the writing style of this author makes each of his books a joy to read. Keep them coming, Ty!

As with a lot of trilogies, the second book is just a bridge between the first and the last without much going on in the story. I really felt that with this one. I felt the story was slow and really didn't move forward much.
