I loved this story as a child. It’s all about appreciating what you have. Ivan complains to the wise man about his noisy cramped house. The wise man tells him to bring the dog, cat, and sheep inside as well. Ivan complains things are even worse now! He is then told to also bring in the cow and goats and chickens. At his wit’s end, Ivan goes back to the wise man, and is told to send all the animals back outside. Suddenly his house isn’t so noisy or crowded anymore.
