Thayer's Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament: Coded with Strong's Concordance Numbers

Rate this book
For over a century, Thayer's has been lauded as one of the best New Testament lexicons available for any student of New Testament Greek. This lexicon provides dictionary definitions for each word and relates each word to its New Testament usage and categorizes its nuances of meaning. It also offers exhaustive coverage of New Testament Greek words, as well as extensive quotation of extra-biblical word usage and background sources consulted and quoted. This lexicon is coded to Strong's for those with little or no Greek knowledge.

Absolutely essential. A good Stong's is useful in order to assist one in identifying the Strong's number but the content of the Thayer's is then far superior to the rather pitiful dictionary provided at the end of most Strong's concordances. It outlines not only all the possible definitions of a word, but the use to which a particular word is put in any partciular passage. It's the next best thing to being able to read the Greek.

This is a book for the serious Bible student. It's coverage of the word usage in the Greek text is stunning. The difference between the Greek and English translations is like the difference between B&W and color TV - same picture, but the color adds things that aren't apparent in the black and white.

Great reference lexicon! Some of the information can be outdated, but it is an absolutely wonderful lexicon for using with Strong's Concordance. One of my most favorite tools.
