Anya Bast is the author of numerous works of romantic fiction, mostly all paranormal and mostly all scorching hot. She lives in the country with her husband, daughter, eight cats, a dog, and an odd assortment of rescued animals.
She grew up in Minnesota and still favors the colder climates. After high school she moved to the southeast United States where she attended college. While in graduate school she sold her first book and decide to pursue her lifelong dream of writing instead of a career in psychology.
Somewhat reclusive by nature, she can be drawn out with a good bottle of red wine, classic movies, or good music. When she’s not writing, she can be found trying to grow organic vegetables, shopping in thrift stores for that perfect piece of clothing, or dreaming about travel to some faraway country.
She’s hard at work on a brand new series for Berkley Sensation right now, while winding up her national bestselling Elemental Witches quartet.
Well written action oriented vampire paranormal. The girl was a little angsty and from the descriptions I would walk across the street to avoid her art but the hero and supporting characters were well done. The author had kind of an interesting twist on the vamp thing by having 'second class' vamps [called Demis they live off sex so most of them are in the sex trade:] and the more powerful blood drinkers. Those turned [and not born to be a vampire:] mostly end up as Demis.
Embraced 1. Blood Of The Rose (2004) 2. Blood of the Raven (2005) 3. Blood of an Angel (2005) 4. Blood of the Damned (2006)
(Explícito). Me gustó.

Xavier(an old friend of Gabe's) begs Gabriel to turn his mortal girlfriend and she doesn't make it all the way to embraced, she is demi and she goes crazy.. Now he is stalking Gabriel and in turn stalks Fate but he is not the reason she was turned... Fate had caught the eye of a Art Gallery owner and his assistant arranged for her to be attacked (and killed(??))and dropped at Gabriels door to get her out of the picture ... LOL but Fate survived the Art dealer still thinks she is hot... but the Art gallery owner was dealing with the Dominion and suddenly they disappear....
Fate has developed psychic powers... she senses deep trouble in Niccoli and she can destroy the Dominion in their own domain when she sleep walks. Now everyone wants her dead..
Anya Bast delivers another great book with this second installment of the Embraced series, BLOOD OF THE RAVEN. In this book we follow Fate, a human artist who has the ability to dream walk. This ability allows her to enter the Dominion realm and kill them while she dreams. Knowing her share of heartache she is strong and determined never to be hurt again. Gabriel, a Vampire leader, is hell bent on protecting her, knowing she’s a target of the Dominion due to her ability. Gabriel feels Fate is safe and allows his attention to be diverted for a short time. Fate is then brutally attacked and forced to become Embraced and then left on Gabriel’s door step. Together they try to find out who attacked her. Was she attacked due to her ability or will one of their past come back to bite them both?
I just love this series. Fate is a strong woman, a black belt, who takes no shit off anyone. She is independent and refuses to allow anyone or anything to run her life. Even being almost killed, forced to become a vampire and having to hide out because someone wants to harm her. Gabriel is an old vampire who, while watching fate for years, begins to have feelings for Fate that he hasn’t felt for many years. Their story is a steamy one, especially when Gabriel decides he wants to give Fate every sexual fantacy she’s ever had. It’s really hot when Gabriel invites Niccolo, a friend he had know for centuries, to share their bed for the night. Gabriel ends up fighting two battles, one to keep fate safe and one to keep Fate with him forever. I felt this was a great book all around. Great story and great Characters.
Fate is a human with psychic ability. She is able to dreamwalk and fight the Dominion, an enemy of humans and vampirs alike. Gabriel is a vampir that has been watching Fate for 5 years to ensure that she is safe from the Dominion.
One night Fate is attacked by a vampir and turned. She is left on Gabriel's doorstep. It's up to them to find out who attacked her and why.
The story was good, though I think it fell apart a little at the end. I thought Gabriel and Fate had really good chemistry. Gabriel's feelings for Fate were pretty clear early on. Fate had bad relationships in the past, so wanted to keep things purely physical. Gabriel was doing his best to protect Fate, but she did do some stupid things. When the attacker and reason were revealed, I was disappointed. It just didn't make much sense. Some of the side characters, Charlie and Niccolo, were interesting and I hope to see them in the next couple of books.
Fate knows who she is and she has an idea of what she would like. Gabriel has watched her over the years as he knows that she is very special. Fate's life is about change and she never was given a choice. She is about to change and become someone that most people will fear. Gabriel needs to find the one that changed her and to find out why?
Surprisingly well written, interesting world premise, no "dark secrets", no "damsel in distress" heroine or pure virgin saving a damaged man, some action, sexy vampires, plenty of plot set ups for sequels... My only complaint is that some asshole ripped the menage a trois scene out of the book and sold it to my bookstore!
