A "Conversation" between Ms. Mouly and Lawrence Weschler—a noted New Yorker writer and are critic—illuminates the history of the magazine's covers and how they have changed over the past decade. In addition, several "Sketchbooks" highlight the work of especially evocative cover artists, including Semp, Spiegelman, and Steinber, these portfolios are complemented by six detachable full-size covers, suitable for framing, bound into the back of the book.

In my ideal world, the New Yorker would publish an encyclopedia-like series books containing every single one of their past covers. Until that happens, this volume of highlights is a pretty good substitute.

Beautifully assembled, this combines the Francoise Mouly era covers with selected earlier covers.
Disappointed by my library's copy, which some "patron" clipped and cut all the way throughout.
Still, recommended.

Somehow missed this when it was first published 25 years ago. Appears out of print, which is a shame.
Great covers, great art, a tremendous book.
Now we need a volume 2 covering 2000-2025
