Aelfred is a medieval drawbridge keeper - an inefficient medieval drawbridge keeper, who is always hoping to invent a revolutionary new process for raising and lowering drawbridges. Meanwhile, the castle where he works suffers one invasion after another - and the Baron loses his best pastrycook. It's all nonsense, of course: the sort of inspired nonsense in which Ted Greenwood specializes, and it is all presented in a wonderful medieval-Greenwood-style text with medieval-Greenwood-pictures.
