The simple boiled egg on the cover is the giveaway. Yes, there are some basic (perfect scones) and not-so-basic recipes in this very reasonably priced cookbook. The aim seems to be to get your novice cook up to speed with all the relatively simple stuff like scrambled eggs and then inspire them to take the next step. Judging by the number of pages with food splashes on them, I must be using this a lot more than I planned. I feel that it's a great reference for advanced and beginner cooks. Give it a go.
