This book is an excellent book. yes at times it is a bit on the disturbing side. It is very blatant that the author was willing to kill himself at the time a particular poem was written. But on the flip side of that, there are also poems in which he describes his aptitude for life and the enjoyment he derives from his wife and (then unborn) son. If you are the type who likes to read poetry format books, then i say go for it. despite it's feeling of aggression, anger, hatred (of self and of outside sources), and misery; there are also feelings of happiness, love, and sheer delight in the joy of life.

It is truly amazing. William is wonderful, I think all his writing is terrific. I loved that this book had some dark poems along with ones that are much more joyful. The writing style in my opinion was beautiful. It made me understand him in a different way. I really don't want to spoil anything. But, I highly reccomend this book.

I can't wait to read the next one.

A very quick and easy read. Gets pretty dark at some points, and really seems like angst for angst sake at some points, but the poem “Hello New King” and the photography made this book a 3-star instead of a 2-star. If you like dark and angsty poetry, this one is for you.

Note: I read this book a few years ago when I was a huge fan of Aiden/William Control and would’ve easily given it 5 stars. This time around, I was actually reading the poetry rather than letting my love for him blind me. So, Dear 19 year old me, it’s really not that good.
