Here stand i at the crossing way
whither shall my footsteps stray?
to the east one pathway bends
to the west another trends
but whichever road i take
little odds to me will make
for my life, wherever i go
must be spent in pang and woe
wherefore do i fail to see
which most quick brings death to me?
for the one that pleases best
leads me to eternal rest

Poems from Pétofi. Most are ok, a few are quite good. It’s unsurprising that his bets poems are imbued with the romanticism that influenced the Hungarian war for independence in 1848/9.
