If you wanted a pet, if you really really wanted just the right pet, what would it be? A gecko, a goose, or a humpback whale? A Minnesota minnow or a South Dakota snail? Come to Ralph's World and join Ralph on a zany adventure across land and water in happy celebration of animal friends of all kinds. Kids' rock star Ralph Covert's playful lyrics to the popular song "Me and My Animal Friends" are coupled with Laurie Keller's whimsical illustrations. Make sure to look for Ralph on every he's in animal disguise!
Ralph Covert is supposed to be pretty popular on Playhouse Disney. I might check him out since he seems to hit a chord with little kids. He's a comedic musician who plays banjo, and as if THAT weren't enough grief, he could become the next best thing since that guy from a 70s show called Make a Wish. His kid's book is based on one of his "hit songs" (it helps to scoff), about when he was a kid he begged his parents for a cool pet to own....like, for example, an elephant? A giraffe? Or maybe we can settle for a sheep. Uh uh, say mom and dad, who have the right to say no....ALWAYS! Funny book for kids. Whether or not you choose to sing it is up to you. Me? I politely pass. 3 stars Covert is overt in relating to kids!
This book is about a boy who has all these different animals and he is begging his parents to help him take care of them and be his pets. At the back of the book there are all the words in song form because some of the words rhyme. This would be a great book for the little ones learning about rhyming words and it is just an entertaining book to read and sing with the kids. This would be a good fit because it has great, funny pictures and is fun to sing along with. I would use this bok when teaching my students about rhyming words and I would teach them the song and maybe even a little dance to get them up and moving and having fun while still learning and using their brains, it could be an introductory book, song, and dance for a language arts lesson where I would give them one word and they have to think of 10 words that rhyme with it.
This book would be great for my younger students in the 2nd grade because it about being friends with animals and they would think that is just silly!
