I picked this book up at an antique store because I love a lot of what Readers Digest has put out and I very much enjoy reading things that were written during the time this was published.
The pages are nice and substantial, the book feels good to hold in your hands, and it has that nice peppery sweet, antique smell to it. That matters.
Michael and I read this together, and I think it would be very very helpful for anyone wanting to get a good bead on biblical history without the daunting task of starting in Genesis and working their way through the Bible without any prior understanding of where it started, where it's going, or the culture surrounding anything therein.
The author did a lot of research; this is the culmination of his life's work in this area.
It includes maps, timelines and an index.
It also includes a lot of archaeological history upon which the text is substantiated.
I do highly recommend it.
