The story revolves around Sarah, a surgeon who loves her job, and who is also the daughter of the mayor. With whom she doesn't have a good relationship with. On a cold morning, she rushes to the hospital after receiving a call that one of her patients is dying and urgently needs her care. The roads being slippery, she ends up in a fateful accident that kills the other driver, who happens to be the Head of the Giordano family (mafia). And now, his brother Gabriel and new head of the family is out for revenge...
I will start with Sarah herself; I liked that she was independent at first and that she was a surgeon, had a sister she was close with, had two beautiful dogs, etc. It's rarely seen in this type of books. The heroine usually has nothing significant in her life (family or friends) and she doesn't have to sacrifice much to be with the hero, or it's not a plot point per say. It's convenient because the story focuses on the heroine and how she is feeling rather than bringing up other aspects/problems that could logically result from her family worrying or her work noticing she is gone for too long, etc. I was actually excited to see all the drama that would clash between normal life and mafia life, and curious to see how the author would manage all of that. Now the problem that I had with all the aspects that were present in Sarah's life was how everything was easily disregarded, and didn't seem all that important? For example: . Anyways, I just think most facts given ended up not being relevant. You know what I mean? That independence I thought she would have at first quickly morphed into a vapid personality. She had no fight in her and she just let Gabriel do whatever he wanted with her even if there was no reason for her to really trust or love him to begin with.
As for Gabriel, big disappointment. He was possessive and dominant, just like I prefer when it comes to antiheroes but he seriously lacked charisma. He was no Nico Russo from Sweet Oblivion or Zade from Haunting Adeline. Also his personality didn't really make sense. The guy purposefully avoided his own family for years because he didn't want anything to do with it and it wasn't him, but when his brother died and he had to take his place now he's the most ruthless guy, full of rage and revenge? And can we talk about how he wants to take revenge on an innocent woman because she was in an accident that killed his brother? How does that make any sense? I very much disliked the way he was during the smut. I'm very difficult when it comes to DomSub relationships and require the hero to do aftercare or still treat the heroine with love. He just seemed too cold and the punishment he gave didn't seem pleasant in any way (even if the heroine was said to be liking it...I guess if the author tells us that means it's true🙄)
The smut was hot at first but became stale half-way through the story. I did like their lustfulness when they were strangers, but as the story continued, and they got to know each other, it didn't feel like any believable romance was developing. It was all about possession and claiming but for why? Why did Gabriel want Sarah so badly? Why did Sarah let him dominate her so much? Why did she say she believes him? Why did she say she loves him? The only answer we get: ''For some crazy reason''. That's it. No real explanation. It is what it is. Like?? I would say I liked the beginning, when the characters didn't know each other but once they dove deeper in the whole mafia plot, I quickly lost interest. I also very much disliked some information that was dropped in the story, nearly at the end, and so unnecessary (more in details in the safety list) which made me even more cold towards their relationship.
I didn't like the ending either. Everything was revealed right in the last chapter, like a big info dump with quick action and a cheesy fight, followed by a corny conclusion like ''love conquers all''. Please...

There seem to be more books in the Kings of Corruption series, which will most likely be the story of different members in the Cosa Nostra brotherhood (that were introduced in this book) but I honestly can't be bothered. I don't think I will be reading them. I was giving this author another try, after very much disliking Indecent Invitation a while back but I don't think her style is for me. Sorry.
Also, quick last note, there were too many typos to not mention it. And the chapters could've been made shorter, just to add more dynamism while switching POV. They felt heavy and never ending at times, and that was killer for me.

No, I needed to despise him in order to break the spell, but every time I believed I’d found the strength, he destroyed my resolve with nothing more than a look from his dark eyes. He was a monster, a predator, an evil man, but all I could see when I was with him was the man I’d fallen into an abyss for.-Sarah

Well, it started off so good, then it went a little wonky on me.
Gabriel (stockbroker, part of Italian mafia family) is forced to take over as the Don for his family after his brother is killed in a car accident involving a lovely doctor. Sarah (surgeon) was racing to save a patient when she was involved in a car accident. Gabriel is determined to ruin her life, but after meeting her he knows he can't harm her. The desire between them is thick and they bust out some serious sexiness. Well then things take a turn. He ends up kidnapping her and also trying to find out what had upset his brother and who was trying to destroy their family.
My issue is he isn't believable as a mob boss. He says he's never killed anyone and has stayed away from his family's business, but then everyone's afraid of him and knows he's "crazy". Then he gives this one guy another chance after the guy has already betrayed him twice. In no other mafia book has a Don given that many chances. If they don't trust someone - that person is usually dead. Definitely not allowed to stay in the inner circle! Then they catch someone that's been very bad and they just let him go without making him tell the secret? I don't know a mob family alive that wouldn't torture info out of someone.
The author also skips over an entire weekend of hot sex. I'm not sure who gave her that brilliant idea but it sucked. Sarah - well she just didn't make any sense to me. It's like one person wrote the first half of the book and someone else wrote the last half.
I didn't believe the relationship at all. There were other things but I won't get into all of them.
That said - I will continue the series because I have hopes that it'll get better.

i just could not get into this 😢 i liked it at first but something happened and i just hated it. i hated our fmc and the love interest was insufferable and all he wanted to do was "claim her" like man calm tf down.

I was intrigued with the other mafia leaders as well and will be interested in reading their books in the future. I received my copy of this book via Booksprout.

Second Son to the Costa Notra & The woman who was involved in a car accident that killed his brother - OH WAY DOWN WE GO👀.
I loved this book inside and out- it had the classic revenge trope. Gabriel didn’t believe the accident that Sarah was involved in that killed his brother wasn’t actually an accident, he believed it was deliberate and wanted to make her pay.
But oh how the tables turned when he didn’t want to cause her pain (I mean unless it was inside the bedroom👀) and Gabe became a HUGE simp for Sarah. A hard man that’s soft only for her? - SIGN ME UP RIGHT NOW.
Also can I just say.. the couple’s chemistry is immaculate and those spicy moments🥵 I mean I am constantly thinking about the changing room moment✨

I am loving the start to this new series by Piper Stone! She never disappoints and I am always so engrossed in her stories, I often forget where I am! This is the story of Gabriel and Sarah. Gabriel Giordano becomes the Don of the Costa Nostra family after his brother dies in a car accident that Sarah Washington happens to be a part of. Sarah is a surgeon who is also the daughter of the mayor who is dead set on taking down Gabriel’s family. Gabriel is out for revenge and believes that Sarah deliberately set out to destroy his brother. But once he meets her, he feels a connection and a pull to her like he has never felt before. Things heat up, but at the same time, someone is out to destroy the Giordano family and wants it to look like the Moretti’s are the ones behind it.
As the story goes on, betrayal is plenty, lies and deception occur, truths are revealed and a couple of twists and turns I didn’t see coming! I look forward to reading the next book in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Gabriel Giordano is from a well-known crime family but unlike his father and brother he had wanted little to do with family business and had managed to work a legit job and even when he had to show willing with his father had simply taken over running one of the men’s clubs.
Now life would never be the same again in the bad weather conditions his brothers car had hit another and he arrived on the scene pulling both his brother and then the other passenger from the other car, she had been a surgeon on an emergency dash to perform surgery to try and save a patient unfortunately she had very nearly lost her own life.
Now she is in the clutched of the brother of the man that had been in the other car and he does not hide his hatred, she knew she had two choices and they were death or marrying him but she is a respected surgeon, her life and career is at its zenith and it seems this is about to end.
She knows that Gabriel and the crime family he runs are cruel, he is the leader of the Cosa Nostra and there are none more deadly. They are murderers, arsonists, traffickers and drug runners that would never back down from a challenge and yet at times she sees something good in him, something that warms her and reaches out to her soul but in a blink of his eve it is gone.
This is a very strongly written book the plot and the characters are simply wonderful and I guarantee that once you begin it is impossible to out down.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

This is a very strongly written book the plot and the characters are simply wonderful and I guarantee that once you begin it is impossible to out down.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

This is the start to the King of Corruption series hang on because this one grabs you from page one to the last so and buckle up this is a wild ride, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, so gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love (ALL THINGS TO EXPECT FROM THE MAFIA WORLD). By the time you’ve figured out who is who and what is what, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter! CAN’T SAY YOU WEREN’T WARNED!!!!! Sarah intelligent a surgeon coming for an affluent family but extremely dysfunctional also the Mayor’s daughter and an accident a stranger saves her life but a man lost his life but not just any man but the don starting a chain reaction that can’t be undone. Gabriel sexy as all get out new Don ruthless when needed, deadly when needed, won’t hesitate to hurt, lie, cheat, steal to get what he wants, with so much anger inside after his losing his father, his brother even though he didn’t like them but he did love them no matter how dysfunction, with one goal revenge of the one who he blames for the death of father one Dr. Sarah Washington daughter of the Major. Through excellent plot development, these characters naturally and believably grew and changed as the story played out, thereby causing my opinion of them to change in the process! No spoilers, as you listen you’ll see exactly what and WHO I mean! With plenty of surprises, betrayals, twists, turns, and eye opening moments, this engrossing plot held my interest one hundred percent! The heat level was deliciously naughty, forbidden, hand me a fan, make that a hundred fans scorching perfect! The narration that brings this story, these characters to life is unbelievable! It’s a dark and steamy Mafia romance and delivers everything you might expect from that type of story. This book went in directions I didn’t expect and held my interest right until the very end.
Gabriel is from a family that runs a notorious criminal organization. He wanted nothing to do with the family business, and although it infuriated his father, he went his own way in life. Then a family tragedy Yanks him back onto the path he never wanted. Sarah is a skilled surgeon, a woman completely devoted to her career. While rushing to the hospital to perform emergency surgery, she’s involved in a car accident that forever changes her life – although her physical injuries are minor. The connection that develops between Gabriel and Sarah is one based on everything it shouldn’t be, including false pretenses and a hidden identity.
As the story continues to unfold, truths are revealed, and more complications arise. The main characters are intriguing and intense, each in their own way. The physical attraction between Gabriel and Sarah is powerful and the author doesn’t shy away from showing it; if you’ve read any of her other books, that won’t surprise you. There are several secondary characters in this story who are also interesting. A few twists and turns occur when you don’t expect them. Sarah Washington didn’t expect to cross paths with the Giordano Family. With one accident her life was in chaos. Now and eye for an eye is all Gabriel Giordano. Sarah took his brother Luciano away with that crash. Now she will pay. I have to say with Sarah, she was already blaming herself before she even got to the hospital. She saw her ability dwindling. Being a surgeon doesn’t always mean you can save everyone. Gabriel on the other hand just didn’t seem to want to accept that the weather conditions were a factor and it was just an accident. He was looking to blame someone. He didn’t want back into the fold of the family. So now his victim was Sarah.
I have to say that the passion these two have is hot. When he first saw her, he was hooked. Amazingly he has his brother to thank for that. Gabe was so upset with his loss that he just didn’t want to see the truth. When he finally did, he didn’t want to be vulnerable. He had to be hard and cold. Sarah is a fighter. Yes, Gabriel does unleash the passion that Sarah has hidden. But she also went toe to toe with him. She always protected those around her even if she didn’t truly know them. Thomas Lockclear and Ri Paige are Phenomenal narrating this book,their performances are so compelling and their voices draw you into the story completely.

It may not be your normal conventional love story but it is one that will not disappoint for sexiness,and romance action and suspense.

This is another amazing read new series by piper stone that I couldn’t put down from the moment I started it there is so much to keep you glued to the story! From the characters hot Chemistry to the mystery to so much different types of action going on all throughout the book. Not to mention who doesn’t love mafia hot guy with some enemy to lovers theme in it I for one think that is a awesome way to start a new steamy new series and I can’t wait to continue the series! I feel like am almost always at the edge of my seat and it’s impossible to stop reading no matter what when it comes to these type of books! Thank goodness it didn’t end like I was afraid it would. I’m so excited to see what what happens next sometimes I feel like in some ways I’m living through the girl character in her books lol. The characters are so easy to enjoy and ,have some good laughs among no she didn’t moments/ ow what’s he going to do about it Moments too which are always fun in my opinion I’m always thinking good luck when those things happen!.

This shit was honest to god probably one of the worst books I’ve ever read in my life. Literally the first chapter we get thrown into a smut scene without so much as a “hello, my name is…”
You can totally tell where the author was trying to elicit emotions from the reader, but none of the moments meant anything because there was no proper build up to ANYTHING. The MMC randomly confesses his love, and says how his pregnant ex-girlfriend who was murdered wasn’t his first love, but this FMC who let him rawdog her in a boutique fitting room 20 minutes after their “random” meet-ugly in a coffee shop is????? The way I would have come back to haunt his ass if I was the ex-girlfriend.
Literally the corniest shit, the only thing that made this bearable was the fact that I was hate-reading it with a friend, so we were essentially make fun of how much of a clusterfuck it was the whole time.
Anyways, in summary, “it was so bad, I wanted to give you a zero, but that’s not possible, so I give you a one”

The story had potential if not for the MFC. She aggrevated the hell out me. She was supposed to be so strong and smart yet she was weak as shit. Every single time she was angry with Gabrielle no matter how major the issue, she'd just lose her mind and let her pu$$¥ take over so he could dominate her. This happened without fail over every single issue. It was so consistently predictable that it became borimg & I wondered why the author even attempted the anger with her. Just take it off and throw it over to him when you walk in the room and let him go at it. You'd just give in anyway.
I'm not planning on continuing on with this series although I do like several of this authors other book series.
There wasn't any romance at all between these two, just a dom/sub relationship without love or any emotional connection, nor was it even attempted until you neared the end which just makes it difficult to root for them or be vested in a future for them.

Gabriel and Sarah: what a couple. Their beginning was unorthodox and dangerous, steamy and mysterious. Gabriel was the one in the book that lived a realistic life. He took the mantle of don after his older brother died and each day learned something new. Each day he fell in love with Sarah. She was his perfect match. Sarah awakened a part of him he thought was long dead. There was suspense page after page that kept my stomach in knots and my mind glued to each page. There is a lot of action, betrayal, revelations and a long awaited bonding that occurred. I loved Gabriel and Sarah. They were honest, truthful, realistic and dealt with their feelings as they came along. This is a wonderful book on what can be, that there is always hope and one ought never forget that.

'King of Wrath' is the first book in Piper Stone's "Kings of Corruption" series and trust me when I say, this one will take you place you didn't realize you'd be going. Gabriel's family runs the New York Cosa Nostra but he wants no part of the family business. Enraging his father, Gabriel took his life in another direction. That is until a family tragedy struck and he's sucked back into a life and role he didn't want. Sarah is a devoted surgeon. While rushing to the hospital to perform emergency surgery, she winds up in an accident. Although her physical injuries are minor, the circumstances will completely change her life. Secrets abound with these two, including false pretenses and hidden identities. The bond between them continues to grow, as do their personalities, whether it's through or because of the many obstacles they encounter. It's well-written and intriguing. If this is what I can expect with the rest series then I'm all in.

Piper needs a challenge
I have now completed the entire series of the Kings. Some of the stories are told better than others. They are basically pretty formulaic in nature. Once you accustom vourself to that idea, the stories flow the same. When you finish the novel, the ends are always “happy”. The fmc is fine being brutalized, as long as it’s for “love”and the Mmc is “redeemed” by love.When you read the synopsis for the following novels, you can’t help but think read one, you’ve read them all: only the names change. I would like to read in her novels for once, the fmc reaches back, grabs the belt and smacks him across the faces with it. Being hit by a leather belt hurts. It makes you angry, not aroused. Anal sex makes people incontinent after a while.
I challenge Piper Stone to write something with a little depth, with some real human emotion and break out of her formula. But, she seems pretty prolific with her formula. Maybe she would like to grow as an author.

The poor weather was to blame for the accident, but Gabriel blamed her in his overwhelming grief. Then he takes her, to get even. Of course, a happy ever after is guaranteed.
Deliciously kindle meltingly filthy and dark, Piper Stone's novels always delight. This one is no exception. The heroine is powerful, and while the Hero is determined at first to break her, she ends up being his one true vulnerability. I didn't realize just who the bad guy was until the end. It was more of a duh moment than shock. This was a pleasure to read, and well worth the one click.

The heroine is powerful, and while the Hero is determined at first to break her, she ends up being his one true vulnerability. I didn't realize just who the bad guy was until the end. It was more of a duh moment than shock. This was a pleasure to read, and well worth the one click.

King of Wrath by Piper Stone is a dark mafia romance and is book 1 in the Kings of Corruption series. The story is told in both POVs, has a HEA and no cliffhanger.
This story involves Sarah Washington, who is a surgeon and Gabriel Giordano, head of the Cosa Nostra.
Sarah is involved in a fatal accident that killed Gabriel’s brother, who happened to be the head of the Cosa Nostra. Gabriel arrives at the accident site and saves Sarah.
The official report was that there was no one to blame for his brothers death, it was just an accident. But things aren’t always what they seem and Gabriel wants revenge.
This story had everything I look for in a book, romance, super hot loving, mystery, and a little danger. I would recommend this book.

First book in Piper’s new Kings of Corruption series we meet Gabriel and Sarah. Just like all of Piper’s books we have a hot, dominant, dangerous hero and a strong, intelligent heroine. They meet under difficult circumstances and Gabriel starts off thinking poorly of Sarah but then they find themselves drawn one to the other. There’s action everywhere, lots of intense bedroom scenes, and emotional roller coasters but in the end everything is as it should be. Now I can’t wait for the next book, which is Constantine’s story. This is going to be a great series!.

This book was intense! **check the trigger warnings**. Gabriel is not only dominating but has a mouth on him. Sarah as stubborn as she was, was the perfect submissive.
It’s told in dual POVs and doesn’t have an epilogue per se, but the last chapter does give you a glimpse of what’s to come.

His brother does not survive, Gabriel ready to avenge his brother's death. It really is a small world, as she is the daughter of the mayor of NY, who is determined to take the family down, so was it an accident?
With his brother gone, Gabriel is a position he never wanted but steps up non the less. He will take it out on Sarah. This story is hot, it intense and rough and might be everyone's cup a tea. But if it is bring a fan.

You normally don't cross paths with the future head of the Costa Nostra when Gabriel saves you from a car crash where his brother has just died but, as the universe dictates, Sarah finds that some meetings and unions are just destined to happen. Gabriel's plan for revenge against Sarah, the woman he believes may have been tasked to intentionally kill his brother quickly changes to a desire to making sure she is his for eternity. Very unusual love story with dangerous twists and turns that are revealed in a breath-taking surprise when a betrayal is revealed towards the end of the book.

Loved this complex story of darkness and light!
I was caught from the first chapter with Sarah’s horrific accident and Gabriel who was her knight in armor that rescued her at his brother’s request. That is where the story goes all ways twisted and keeps bringing you back to Gabriel’s revenge and coming of power. Yet Sarah’s focus of returning to work to forget about the accident’s outcome is never far from her mind, until Gabriel swoops in with some mind blowing adventures! How will it all end for Gabriel trying to find the mole and his relationship with Sarah? You have to read to find out and don’t expect to put the book down until you turn the last page!

I love Piper Stone, and I love Mafia romances, so this was a no brainer on whether or not I'd enjoy it. It has all the danger, excitement, action, intrigue, and twists that I look for in a Romantic Suspense, with the added benefit of characters that are complex and engaging. There is also a lot of steam and the electrifying connection between Gabriel and Sarah to heat your blood. It loved that the intensity level was kept high throughout the book, and at no time did I start to get bored or skim pages. It's dark and delicious from beginning to end, and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I loved the revenge plot but then Gabriel went and fell for his own con. One look at Sarah and he was hooked. They were drawn to one another. Sarah was a surgeon saving lives and Gabriel’s line of work was taking them. Two completely different worlds. In Gabriel’s world a war was brewing. After the death of his brother, he was next in line to take over as Don. Turns out there was an evil genius plotting an even more devious revenge plan. The twists & betrayal were great! I also loved that the book was not only about Sarah and Gabriel. We got to see other characters that really brought the story to life.
