This is a great resource for mentor texts that show specific writing craft. I would love if they did an updated edition because there are so many wonderful new titles that have been added since the publication date. I also wish they had included craft lessons for all 27 craft elements. It would be a time saver for teachers.

This was a great purchase and will be a wonderful resource. I am going to make sure everyone on staff at my Pre-K-5 school knows about it. This book is divided into three sections. The first section briefly describes craft lessons that every child should receive before they leave 6th grade and lists five exemplar mentor texts. the second section gives a few examples of actual lessons. The third and main part is a list of books and how they can be used to teach craft lessons. This is a very easy to use resource and will save a lot of time.

Even though the title says its focus is on K-6, I think there's a lot secondary teachers could use here to teach writing craft from picture books.
