Beautiful book from one of my favourite Cross Stitch designers. Joan's meticulous eye for detail makes some of these the most gorgeous designs to stitch. Having already adapted the Apache Wedding Sampler for a silver wedding anniversary, a few years ago, I am currently working on the Circle of Life Dreamcatcher design. It's exquisite. It's going to be an engagement gift, so I am adapting it slightly (Joan is wonderfully understanding about people doing this with her designs!) and hope the finished piece will do her design justice. A beautiful book, filled with designs that range from simple to challenging, there is something for everyone who loves Native American designs, here.

Appropriation is not ok. Nor is this sentence: "the distinctive imagery of America's indigenous culture is a powerful reminder of the values the native people lived by." Native peoples and culture are alive and well, and to refer to them in the past tense is highly offensive. Please consider changing the description of this book, or even better, consult actual Native peoples while publishing a book such as this one.

Joan Elliott probably my favourite cross stitch designers. Her designs are sometime on the "too-cutesy" side, but for the most part, they really appeal to me. This book is no exception. The only issue I have is that she uses quite a few beads in most of her large designs, but those are easily omitted.

I want this book! ;)
