වික්ටර් අයිවන්ගේ “චෞර රැජින” ලැබුණ දවසේ එක හුස්මටම කියවා ඉවර කළෙමි. එහි චන්ද්‍රිකා කුමාරතුංග හිටපු ජනාධිපතිනිය ගැන පළවී ඇති කරුණු විශ්වාස කරන්නත් අපහසුය. එහෙත් ඇය මේ පොතට විරුද්ධව කිසිම අභියෝගයක් නොකළ නිසා මෙහි තිබෙන කරුණු බොහෝසෙයින් නිවැරදි විය හැකිය. ඇරත් අයිවන් චන්ද්‍රිකා මැතිනිය කලක් සමීපව ආශ්‍රය කළ අයෙකි. මේ නිසා ඔහු මේ කරුණු හෙළි කරන්නේ යම්කිසි පදනමක් ඇතුව විය හැක.

මෙම පොතේ කිසිම සාහිත්‍යමය වැදගත්කමක් මට නොපෙනේ. මෙය අයිවන් විසින් ලියන ලද පුවත්පත් වාර්තා කිහිපයක එකතුවක් පමණි. එහෙත් නිර්භයව මෙවන් කරුණු හෙළිකිරීමට අයිවන්ට තිබූ ශක්තිය අගය කළ යුතුය. රාජ්‍ය නායකයින් වගකීම් රහිතව ක්‍රියා කරන විට ඒවා රටට හෙළි කිරීම ජනමාධ්‍ය වේදීන්ගේ වගකීමයි. චන්ද්‍රිකා වැනි 62% ක ජනාධිපතිවරණ ජනප්‍රසාදයක් සමග බලයට පැමිණි නායිකාවක් මේ මට්ටමට ඇදවැටීම ඇගේ පමණක් නොව ජාතියේද අවාසනාවකි.

This was a full of sexist and below-the-belt mud-slinging and had very little to offer in terms of any kind of proper constructive criticism. It was just sensationalist and while the accusations, etc. maybe true it doesn't justify the way in which this book framed and indeed narrated them. I almost felt sorry for CB, and I never even liked her much!

Not a single star shall be given to this book. When I was young I was shocked by the content. It was more mud slinging towards an individual than facts. None of the claims were supported. The book left a very bitter taste in my mind.
