About the author

Neal Adams was an American comic book and commercial artist known for helping to create some of the definitive modern imagery of the DC Comics characters Superman, Batman, and Green Arrow; as the co-founder of the graphic design studio Continuity Associates; and as a creators-rights advocate who helped secure a pension and recognition for Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

Adams was inducted into the Eisner Award's Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 1998, and the Harvey Awards' Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1999.

Definitive X-Men and Batman artist Neal Adams writes about the thought processes behind sketching for comics, movie posters and other media in a quite interesting book uncovering the mind of the comic book artist. Three Stars, 7 out of 12.

As the title indicates, this is a selection of Neal Adams sketches, with full commentary by the artist. The book provides a great insight into Mr. Adams' creative process, while also giving useful pointers to aspiring or developing artists, to whom this book is recommended.

Neal Adams was one of the pioneers of comic art, redefining how figures and pages were drawn. He also fought for the rights of creators and claimed little victories like the return of original artwork to the creators that drew the pages.

This sketchbook lets Neal run loose and free as he provides commentary for a collection of sketches that run from his earliest days as an artist to 1999. A younger and more energetic Adams gives free advice to artists of all skills and ages.

It's a blustery and enthusiastic book that should be read by fans of the medium.
