I have never read a book that brought out my bogan ocker Aussie accent so much. I feel like a walking stereotype right now lol. My 5yo loved the book though, and the emu facts at the end too, so all's good.

Gorgeous illustrations, humorous and personality-packed. The story is very repetitive, asking each Aussie animal if they have seen the missing emu chick, until it is finally found. Incorrect information about the clutch size of emus - 8 to 15 eggs in a clutch rather than 30.

Short tale of emu looking for chick, using tried and tested formula from books like Are you my mother? etc - has a plethora of Australian animals.
All fine.

I found the Ockerness of this book to be thoroughly over egged and the prose itself laborious. I struggled to keep my toddler's attention with it. I passed it on to a friend however and they absolutely love it and enjoy reading it in over exaggerated Aussie accents.

Salman's favourite book! Love the illustration and simple story, easy to read for babies.
