AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY: A SYSTEMS APPROACH, 5th Edition remains the leading authority on automotive theory, service and repair procedures. The new edition has been updated to include coverage of hybrid vehicles throughout the text, new content on electronic automatic transmissions, preventive maintenance, and many other topics that reflect the most recent changes in the industry. Chapters cover the theory, diagnosis and service of all system areas for automobiles and light trucks, and the content closely adheres to the 2008 NATEF Automobile Program Standards.
Vast coverage of topics, comparable to Automotive Technology by J. Halderman. Good theory explanation and hands-on step by step, although some procedures feel lacking and hurried.
Beautiful photos and colorful illustration makes this a delectable read.

I've only read about 100 pages so far, but I've already learned so much. This is a great book for anyone who wants to learn how cars work! It's written in plain English and builds from first principles on simple concepts, which makes it pretty easy to understand. For the parts that are confusing, I like asking questions to ChatGPT or Grok to help me learn. Overall it's a great book I would absolutely recommend it!
So far I've read seven hundred pages or so during the course of my class. I plan to read the whole thing. The most comprehensive book on automotives I've seen.
