This is not a book you read through cover to cover, but instead a rich encyclopedia of many play therapy activities for kids and families to reference. I keep this by my side while working with kids and find it so helpful and easy to understand. Each intervention is spelled out step by step with a materials list and case example as well. A must have for any play therapists!

A very helpful resource for mental health counselors and social workers who need some new ideas when working with children. I wish there was a quick statement at the begining of each activity that would identify general problems and goals the activity is most appropriate for. This type of information would improve how easily an activity/intervention could be found when flipping through and deciding if it could be relevant to a particular child I am working with. I just wrote key words down to make this easier for myself in the future! Well written and focuses on the intention behind each activity even more than the activity itself, which (1) made it easier for me to stay focused on the goals, and (2) leaves more room for creativity and branching off based on what is most appropriate for the particular child.
