C. Arnold Snyder tells the Anabaptist story with impressive synthetic power. He provides a concise narrative describing the birth and evolution of the 16th century Anabaptist movement.
Includes 6 maps, 30 illustrations, plus an appendix on Anabaptist historiography, a bibliography, and a comprehensive index.
I am reading this for a 2nd year Anabaptist Beginnings class. I love Snyder's style and it is an interesting read. He throws in enough stories so that the history doesn't get too dry and the formatting in the Student version make life much easier in terms of breaking things down and leaving room for notes.
He does an excellent job covering the various aspects of the Anabaptist movement from it's origins to the present, with a strong focus on its 16th century beginnings.
There are a number of spelling and grammar mistakes that I always want to let the author/publisher/editor know about, but that doesn't take away from the books content.
