A beautiful encounter of the voyages round the world. Though it was written in a very official way and it lacks some literary skills, it really gets your imagination on full speed.

I was mostly interested by Cook's discovery of New Caledonia and it was one of my favourite encounters in this journal. I had to be there with them, share their pain, their awe, joy of discovery and fear of death. During storms, hurricanes, problems with local people or sickness I was scared for life of people really long gone.

The story finishes of course with the death of Capitain Cook. He died in very dramatic circumstances described with a big attention to detail. He was so hopeless and alone that it almost crashed my heart while reading. It made me think about The Song of Roland, because of the epic-like description of his death.

Really beautiful story that will please any traveller.

Oh, and it's for free on amazon. ;)
