WHAT IF YOU COULD LIVE ONE DAY OVER AGAIN-AND CHANGE THE OUTCOME?
Suddenly, unbelievably, Mary Ellen O'Rourke could-and so her wonderful husband and beautiful baby girl were alive and well. Now all she had to do was keep them that way. If only she knew how….
But maybe she did. Because a strange encounter with an unusual ring had brought Mary into this parallel world, one in which Daniel and Hope-and she-were the family she'd always dreamed of being. Because it seemed that this time, she had acted differently on that fateful day. So was this new life a dream? Mary didn't care. She'd spent six years praying for a second chance-and she wasn't going to waste a single minute of it!

2002 Savannah Georgia For the past six years Mary O'Rourke hadn't wanted to do anything but die. It was six years to the day that she had been standing in her front yard when her husband had backed out the driveway with their three month old baby girl in the car. She had heard, before she'd seen, the police car come careering around the corner in pursuit of another vehicle. She'd yelled at Daniel, screaming for him to stop. The three cars collided and that was how she lost her family. Daniel left the house because they'd had a fight and the last words they'd spoken to each other had been in anger and Mary was consumed with grief and guilt all these years.
Mary decided not to stay home that sad anniversary. She went down town. It had been years since she'd been in that part of Savannah. She walked absently window shopping, when she realised she was lost. She saw an antique shop. The name was Time After Time. There was a tiny old man behind the counter and the shop was messy and dusty. There, in the middle of the mess, was a glass case filled with an assortment of jewellery. She picked up a ring with a blue stone. There was an inscription within. " I Promise You Forever." She slipped the ring on her finger. Immediately her finger began to burn. She felt dizzy and everything in the room began to turn and felt herself falling.
When Mary came to, she was in her house. She heard her baby crying in the next room. She was reliving that last tragic morning. Was she doomed to replay her last moments with Daniel and Hope? When Daniel strode out of the house, Mary was filled with dread as she knew what was coming. As he began backing down the drive, Mary heard the sound of an approaching siren. Suddenly Mary ran, throwing herself on the hood of the car. Daniel hit the brakes.
The dream wasn't the same this time. She didn't just stand there yelling. She acted. Mary thought that maybe this meant that she was starting to heal. Even if it was just a dream, she'd given herself a happy ending. She spent the whole day with Daniel and Hope, and Mary thought that as long as she slept, Daniel and Hope were still alive. But the time came that she couldn't hold on to the dream. Her head was spinning. When she opened her eyes again she was still standing in the antique shop, and what had been left of her spirit died.
Mary put the ring back in the box and headed for the exit when the door suddenly opened and a little girl about six years old burst into the shop "Mommy! Mommy!" A man appeared in the doorway. It was Daniel! Mary thought she was losing her mind. It was the only explanation for the fact that she kept slipping in and out of a fantasy. She was having a nervous breakdown, she was sure of it! Was this an extension of her other fantasy? The dead do not come back to life, but she'd never had a dream this real. If she had a choice, she would choose this insanity rather than go back to the loneliness and misery of her life. Would all these just suddenly disappear? To lose them again, would break what was left of her heart. Was she given the opportunity to change their fates? (30% mark). The rest of the story is very suspenseful! I got goosebumps at the end of the book!
Still grieving the death of her husband and baby daughter nearly six years ago, Mary Faith O'Rourke walks into an antique store, puts on a ring, and everything changes. Suddenly she has gone back in time to that fateful night and stopped their deaths. Fast forward to the present and Mary once again has Daniel and Little Hope in her life. But there is a stranger who has the power to hurt Mary with his actions. If he succeeds, Mary may lose everything again.
Sharon Sala is a hit or miss author for me. This one was a BIG MISS. Mary spent the first 100 pages believing she was dreaming. Then she thought that she must be dead and this was heaven since she was so happy to have her family back. Finally, when the story took an abrupt turn with a stranger stalking Mary's daughter. It wasn't believable at all, but it at least kept my interest. So, I'm giving this book one star for the awful plot/characters with an additional half star for the suspense plot. My rating 1.5 Stars.
I first read this book circa 2003/2004 and at the time I recall feeling that it was the best thing I'd ever read. Time and some good prescription drugs have made me realise that actually, it was just an ok book. I will still give it four stars just for making me feel so good at the time. Plus I wrote to Harlequin telling them how wonderful I thought the book was ffs, so I can hardly give it an average score now can I? Sigh... love you Ms Sala.
I'll admit to being a bit confused for a bit, but when I put aside my questions and read the story, it was really good. The parts that could be answered were. I just need to learn to enjoy it all. LOL
Sweet verging on sappy story about Mary whose husband and daughter were killed in a car accident. She is able to do the day all over again and finds out that God had a reason for having go back and then fast forward to the present. She doesn't remember a lot, some of it comes to her bits and pieces, but with the past 6 years without them and then having them again, she's a stronger different woman and is able to help in a tragedy that takes place in her new present time. Huh?!? These time travel stories are confusing. This is the first Sharon Sala book I've read.
Yea it's one of those books that set your mood. But shouldn't every book. While I was reading this I really felt like I was there watching the whole thing. Books like this are hard to find. It was easy to read, and easy to get into. I wasn't wondering "what I'll do today" while I was reading it. It's a must read! I loved it. Period.
At the start of the story, it was a bit confusing to me. I wondered if I was going to be able to finish it. I kept going because I love Sharon Sala. She is always been a wonderful writer and always come through for me. I was glad that I kept going, because the more I read the more I enjoyed it. Give it a chance! You won’t regret it.
I wasn’t sure if I liked the story line when I started this book. But the characters were fantastic and so was the rest of the book. It had a very serious storyline . Thanks for this great read I really enjoyed the book and the ending was awesome.
Moving and inspiring book. I love second chance time travel stories and when there is deeper meaning to the traveler’s journey, it makes it even better.
The book has some unique twists and made for intriguing reading. The plot is definitely in the paranormal category, which she writes far better than most.
A young woman, still distraught from the car accident that took her husband and baby girl from her six years later, wanders into an antique store. She tries on an antique ring and subsequently faints. She awakens in a world that includes her husband and daughter six years later.
If you could turn the hands of time back and could do it over again would and would you do it differently. Mary Faith got that chance and did she mad right where there was wrong. This story has you thinking about life and what could happen in a blink of an eye. Beautiful story loved it. Sharon Sala dose again A top notch story that has you turning the pages till the end then saying man that wS a great book.
