Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

Francis John Haverfield, FBA was an English ancient historian, archaeologist, and academic. From 1907 to 1919 he held the Camden Professorship of Ancient History at the University of Oxford.

This book is great. I even managed to finish it in a day. Haverfield has ensured that he reduced all complications so every reader can understand his points and as well as enjoy the read. These kind of books can be quite factual and like your reading a bunch of bullet points but the author has really made it flow so as you feel you aren't overthrown with information but learning swiftly. Students should definitely read this book as it helped immensely with my Roman coursework.
