When the local constabulary on the Isle of Wight fails to find any sign of foul play in the disappearance of Nigel Carter, his aunt, Kate Kinsella, owner of the Medical and Nursing Investigation Agency becomes involved, only to find herself the lead suspect in the murder of a new acquaintance.
Christmas on the Isle of Wight (I remember it well from the Beatles' song, "When I'm Sixty-four") - P.I. Kate Kinsella is hired to locate a missing heir to a fortune, but she can find hardly any trace of him. His associates say he left town and disappeared. A woman she meets on the ferry ride decides to help her, and they break into the man's house to look for clues. The woman is later found murdered. Kate is a suspect and her friend Hubert helps her get out of it. Eventually they unravel everything, locate the missing man, and find the killer of the woman. The core of the mystery turns out to be that the murdered woman was a con artist, who ruined a lot of lives, and many people wanted to kill her, including the missing heir.
The most interesting character is Hubert, who also happens to be an undertaker by trade. He has a fetish for women's stilettos and has fallen in love with a trans woman named Danielle. He is always there for Kate, helps her out of jams, and solves complex problems for her.

No bias but the book is a little too feminine for me...but serves a good base to understand how the feminine side acts when they gets caught in between stuff.
