While the quotes themselves are terrific--as a quote-fiend, I admire collections that include quotes about women I've never encountered before--this book falls short of a five star rating from me because the layout is terrible. The font choices make several of the quotes very difficult to read. It's a shame the design of the text is so awful, because the content and accompanying artwork are strong and beautiful. I really like the fact that the editors managed to find truly insightful remarks from women not often recognized for their wisdom (like Candace Bergen, who is the source of one of the quotes I liked best in here).

Many of the quotes resonated with me, and I will carry them with me through my life. I was less interested in quotes from celebrities, and quotes about beauty and aging, feeling that many of them presented a stereotyped look at women's lives. The illustrations are almost exclusively in bold colors, a welcome change from women's images faded away in pastels.

I read through this during my lunch break today and really like most of the quotes and loved the pictures.

My issue with the book, is the pictures. The name of the artist should be on the page with the picture. I get that this is "quotable" women, but the pictures add to it and take up whole pages. And because we have no information on the picture, we just have the three women who put this book together interpretation of which picture worked best next to which page of quotes.

Also a few quotes suffered from lack of context.

This book was given to me when I retired, and I read through it with great joy. I still pull it down from my shelf from time to time to receive a litle motivation by the wisdom within the pages.

The artwork was gorgeous, the quotes lacking. Worth it visually.
