Printed in 1968, this book covers a brief history of canals, with a focus upon the rise of canal building in Britain. I chose this book because of my interest in the Erie canal. The historic photos are wonderful and the inclusion of canals of Europe, North America, Panama and the Suez left me with a greater understanding of how canals have changed the world. I want to purchase a copy for my personal collection.
